Romuva Chicago 18 Nov Meeting Minutes

We will discuss our vision of Romuva Chgo, our expectations for it, and our commitments to it.
It it will be a two-focus discussion: what our needs and wants are, as well as what the needs and
wants of Romuva Chgo are. The bottom line is we are the congregation, and we mold Romuva
Chgo in our own image. There was a long personal discussion.

What do we want to do? Holidays; Pre-planning to learn about the holidays and day to day issues
Once per month; Some people want a second meeting for learning dainos and book study; Vilius
will list the holidays and dates for next year.

Right now, Romuva Chicago needs the following volunteer contributions:

1. hosting Lithuanian Romuva ensemble in Spring (see comment below)

Hosting: This is a very important opportunity for outreach. So far, no one has volunteered
to do anything, despite repeated requests. Local or national folklore contacts are
especially required. This will be Romuva/USA's 10 year anniversary event.
Kaze & Vilius working on this
2. mailing list management - open
3. web page administration- Vilius monthly info / Kaze archive
4. advertising (i.e. free and paid ads) - Gintas
5. publicity (i.e. articles in newspapers) – not essential
6. facilities organization (see comment below) Kaze + Gintas store
Facilities: We especially need a suitable permanent meeting location for a reasonable
rent. The four years we spent in one location provided a pillar of stability that has been
crucially lacking for the last several years. Our deepest appreciation goes to Don Grazulis
for that privilege and blessing. The ideal setting would be something like a meditation
room with a circular arrangement and comfortable chairs in a carpeted earth-tone room
with windows facing nature and adjustable lighting. The Kazlauskai have graciously
offered the use of their store in Indiana.
7. event organization (the physical issues for Rasa and Kucios) – as we go
8. money management – Gintas will be treasurer
9. hospitality – not essential
10. development – not essential
11. administrative leadership – the “board”
12. educational leadership - Vilius
13. religious leadership - Vilius

Lisa & Carolyn have kindheartedly volunteered to work in one of the following areas: hosting
Lithuanian Romuva ensemble in Spring (see comment below), mailing list management, web
page administration, event organization, educational leadership, religious leadership.
