including choosing fruits and vegetables, in a
variety of settings.

foods.

Pedagogy 1. The online course I’m teaching in for this activity is


Planning asynchronous.

2. In this online activity, my online students will use a simulation on healthy


eating to have an individual experience based upon their unique choices. Each
child’s end result will be different, and I will grade them online by how well
they created their plan based on the results received from the my plate/healthy
eating simulation.
Pedagogy Online Activity The learning activity allows eighth grade students to
group foods into their correct food group. (EX. bread
is a grain, the child will drag the bread to the grain)
The teacher will trust the student has completed the
activity based on their created plan of making healthy
choices.
The students will complete the activity and create a
plan to make healthy food choices.
The teacher will provide the students with the link to
complete this simulation.
Before the simulation there will be modules and
previous modules of information discussing what a
healthy meal includes with the correct serving size. I
will record a video of me using the my plate website
and how to navigate.(talk and explain) I will also post
a rubric for their assignment on creating a plate with
the correct servings.
During the simulation, I will have them to email me
questions or concerns they have.
After the simulation, I will have their assignment
graded and go into great detail on what the did correct
and incorrect. (I will post instructions and the rubric to
Edublogs)
The students will be using the technology to complete
the simulation and also to complete the assignment of
creating an ideal healthy plate. Using the technology
will help them better understand selecting healthier
choices.
