The wind classi cation relates to gust wind speeds (m/s) that a ecting a given
site. The determination o a wind classi cation is critical in ensuring that a
building is designed and constructed to the level appropriate to withstand MORETON

the wind orces it will be subjected to. The wind classi cations de ned in the

Determining a wind speed classifcation


The selection o wind speed classi cation or a house depends on the 50km

conditions at the site o the house. The classi cation shall be determined rom 100km
Table 2 on Page 8 using the ollowing site conditions:

STEP 1 The region where the site is located as de ned in Figure 1
(Region A B C or D as given in AS/NZS 1170.2).

STEP 2 The terrain that surrounds or is likely to surround the site Region A Region B Region C Region D
