Day 1 – Reviewing and Planning

Have students look over the work previously done in this unit.

Complete planning sheet while sharing ideas with each other. Teacher can also do one as an example.

Share at least one box on their planning sheet.

Day 2 – Planning and Drafting

Look over their planning sheet and add anymore ideas they might have. Show 2/3s and 4/5s the writing
stand of the assessment rubric (Appendixes I and J)

Begin writing their All About Me story using sentence frames. Sentence frames can be derived from
the planning sheet and/or others appropriate for the students’ language and grade level.

Share their stories with either the teacher or the whole group.
Day 3 Drafting and Editing

Look over stories from last day. Add ideas and make changes.

In pairs, read their stories to their partners. Switch partners and repeat. Teacher can also make
suggestions appropriate for each child’s level.

Make any changes necessary.

*At this point, make a copy of each students completed story. Students can
then take their stories home to gather pictures and artifacts to use in their
multimedia presentation. As well, students who would like to create a dual
language text, can get any support they may need from family or friends in
writing the story in their home language. Give students a date by which to bring
all their materials. Then proceed to lesson 5.
