Dissolution / Filtration

1. Which substances dissolved? Did not dissolve?

Salt and Sugar dissolved however the test tube containing the charcoal did not dissolve
2. Which substances passed through the filter disk? Did not pass through? Why do some
substances pass through the disk while others do not?
Salt and Sugar passed through the filter disk however the charcoal did not pass through.
