Displaying and Creating Table Authorization Groups and

Assignment of Tables to an Authorization Group

Display Table Authorization Groups:

1. Execute Transaction SE54. (The two radio buttons we are concerned with are:
Authorization groups – to locate Authorization Groups and Assign authoriz group
– to locate tables assigned to an Authorization Group.)

2. Click on the “Authorization groups” radio button.


3. Click on Display.

4. System returns all the Authorization Groups that have been created.

If you know the Table name and need to know if it is assigned to and Auth Group:

1. Click on the Assign Authoriz group radio button.


2. Click on Display.

3. In the pop-up click on the Table name.


4. Click on the Green check/Enter.

5. Enter the Table name that you know.


6. Click on the Green check/Enter.

7. System returns the Table and the Authorization Group for the table.

If you know the Authorization Group and need to know the Tables assigned to the
Auth Group:

1. Click on the Assign Authoriz group radio button.


2. Click on Display.

3. Click on the Authorization group radio button.


4. Click on the Green check/Enter.

5. Enter the Authorization group in the pop-up.

7. System returns the Tables that are assigned to the Auth group selected above.

Create an Authorization Group

1. Execute Transaction SE54.


2. Click on Authorization groups radio button.
3. Click on Create/change.

4. Click on New entries push button.

5. In the AuGr field – enter the Authorization Group – Technical name for the
Authorization Group. In the Description field enter the description of the
Authorization Group.
6. Click on Save.

7. Receive a Transport Request.


8. Click on the Green check/Enter.

Note that AuGr is now listed in the table for Authorization Object S_TABU_DIS.

Assign Table to Authorization Group

1. Execute Transaction SE54.


2. Click on Authorization groups radio button.
3. Click on Create/change.

4. Click on the Table name radio button.


5. Click on the Green check/Enter.

6. Enter the name of the Table or part of the table name if complete name of table is
not known.
7. Click on the Green check/Enter.
8. System returns all the Tables that are of this prefix.
9. Double click to select the one that needs to be placed in the Authorization Group.

10. Click on the New entries push button.

11. Enter the Table name, or it will be popped in from double clicking when selecting
from list.
12. Enter the Authorization Group, or Click on the down arrow in the Authorization
field to select an Authorization Group.
13. Click on the Save icon.

14. Receive a prompt to create a Transport Request.

Display Tables that were assigned to the Authorization Group that was created:

1. Execute Transaction SE54.


2. Click on Assign Authoriz group
3. In the Authorization group field - Enter the Authorization Group Technical name:
i.e. ZBWM
4. Click on the Green check/Enter.

5. The system returns the Tables that are assigned to the Authorization Group – ZBWM.

Limiting Tables via Authorization Groups in Roles:

1. Authorization Object: S_TABU_DIS with field Authorization group is where


the Authorization Group needs to be placed to limit access for a user to only the
tables that belong to this Authorization group – ZBWM.
2. Transactions SE16 and SM30 both call this authorization object.
