Philippines our native land, the country of brave and gallants….

The Philippines has a history that unlike other countries have. It has become the most

historic place where hundreds of heroes lived, died and made a legend that until now brings great

honor and nobleness to the people as well as to the country.

In the midst of many controversies that the country is going through, it never surrendered

yet it grew stronger. Why not? Despite being classified as a developing country, the Philippines

still have many features and culture that was maintained, developed and loved creating this

country a home for everybody and these are the reasons why it is still the best place to retire.

Although Philippines is considered a developing nation and a third world country, and

not as technologically advanced as other Asian Countries, its economy is anchored in

agriculture. Filipinos lived their lives in farming and planting of fruit trees, vegetables and root

crops, however, it has experienced substantial contributions from manufacturing, mining,

tourism and other kinds of businesses. Mainly, these are the remedies of the Filipinos to produce

their daily commodities. The major industries are food, electronics and machinery, mineral

products, coconut, sugar, bananas, pineapples and mangoes.

Philippines todays has the traffic jams that is usually being experience in the cities, power

failures and blackouts especially during monsoon season, typhoons that causes floods, landslides

and to add some are the undisciplined motorists, uncounted crimes, and other ingredients of

different kinds of people and races yet it gives spice to the taste of living. Despite these cons,

Philippines’ tolerance was measured while maintaining its dignity and pride.
And how can we enumerate it? Living in Philippines is not so costly. Any foreigner can

live a profligate its way of life from their hard-earned retirement money. They may also afford to

get maids, buy house, cars and drivers. Their luxurious lifestyle in the foreign country can also

be applied: bath tubs, ovens, swimming pools, chandeliers and other lucrative things that are not

usual to most of the Filipino houses especially in provinces or towns though it might also be

available to some affluent families. Retirees can also invest apartments that can be rented by

anybody at an affordable price.

Retiring in the Philippines is wonderful while waking up seeing perfect white sand and

Looking for great friends is not hard in the Philippines since Filipinos are the friendliest

people, hospitable, accommodating and accepting. Most of them, despite being poor will always

have something to offer and smile is not absent. Despite being busy and grinded in the field, they

will always spare time for relaxing (drinking with their neighbors or co-workers, chat with them

or play with their children), go to church, festive, visit relatives and friends. They might have the

The Filipino Cuisine is one of the most unrecognized and a disregarded cuisine in the

world but it is one of the most varied and traditionally and ethnologically ingrained. Philippines

have also the various exotic foods that anybody can enjoy eating. Retiring in the Philippines will

not only make you a king or a queen, you will also have the chance to discover new foods that

will surely suit your taste. Why not? The Philippines pride, Bibingka, is the most delicious

delicacies of the Filipinos. It is a either made from whole or grind rice or from the roots of the

kamoteng-kahoy. Ginataan (mixed cocnut milk, chopped sweet potato, chopped banana and

tapioca pearls and sugar) is also one of the favorites of the Filipinos. Just boil all these

ingredients till thick and served hot. And to complete it, try the Philippine Halo-halo which

means the mixing of the crushed ice, chopped sweet potato, mango slice, coconut strips, pinipig,

evaporated milk and sugar. Try also the dirty ice cream ( cheaper kind of ice creams sold in the

streets). Others like turon, banana que, camote que, palitaw, empanada and many more can only

be discovered in the Philippines and it is at your choice to pick. Oh Ha!!

The letson as Filipinos call the suckling pig cooked in a coal for several hours, is one of

the main food served during fiestas or any occasion. The kare-kare (ox tail cooked with grind

peanut and dipped with alamang sauce) the sinigang either fish or meat in sour broth, adobo

(pork or chicken in soy and vinegar), the paksiw (fish cooked solely in vinegar with spices),

tinola (chicken with papaya as side ingredient) and many more. It is only in the country where

you can eat the most delicious street foods like the kwek-kwek kwek (deep-fried quail eggs),

kikiam, balut (duck fetus), pekyu etc. Usually fried and dipped to vinegar. If you are rushing,
take-outs is available in the country. The Pinakbet is one of the most famous dishes especially

with the Ilocanos (mixtures of squash, eggplants, bitter gourds, okra, sweet potato and fish sauce

either sautéed or not). Any canteen that sells tapsilog and other dishes with the -silog suffix

(garlic rice, fried egg and any viand) is a pocket-friendly meal and are available in all carinderias

in the country. To complete the meal, a bunch of juicy fruits will make it like the sweet mangoes

and pineapples and don’t miss the lansones and Durian in Davao, the avocados in Luzon, the

strawberries in Baguio City and many more that every person can enjoy eating them.

Definitely, it is said that living in the Philippines may not be as luxurious compared to

other countries but if you like to retire to be stress-less, worry-less, expense-less yet full of

friends, fresh air, fresh fruits, fresh dishes and a friendly environment, retire in the Philippines

and you will get the most precious gift in life- the gift of additional twenty years of living while

feeling young and never get old!
