Good morning everyone!

I thank this opportunity to present the SBM best practices of Digos City National High
School headed by Datu Roger A. Manapol, Doctor of Education, Secondary School
Principal IV.
I would like to give emphasis on the following best practices:

A) Education for All

With the leadership and initiative of the School Principal, the school has seen a
tremendous progress, the opening of extension schools and annexes has become
possible. It gave birth to 7 (seven) extensions and annexes, three of which were already
independent. These extensions and annexes positively decreased the population of
Digos City National High School Main Campus since students from distant and nearby
barangays are already catered. Eventually the Digos City National High School received
an excellent award in Project implementation for Social Development. This award is
given to Digos City National High School by the Regional Development Council in the
year 2015.
This program has accorded students from different barangays the opportunity to access
quality secondary education.

B) Strong Linkages with the following donations from Province and Congress:
1) Technical Vocational Laboratory from the Congress worth 1.5 million
2) Two story STEM building from the Congress worth 18 million with fence worth
3 million
3) Two storey SPA/SPS building from the Congress worth 40 million
4) Gymnasium worth
5) Transformer from the Province worth 500,000
6) School bus from the Province worth 5 million
7) Upcoming 4 storey building from the Congress worth 40 million
These facilities improve the teaching, learning environment and student
achievement. Higher grades have been associated with the design and condition
of school facilities.
C) Modified Alternative Delivery Module (ADM) for Children in Conflict with the
School Policy
It was recorded that students involved in cases like intoxicating substances,
bullying and violence, gambling come from broken families, with single parent,
and they are even abandoned children. If not properly attended, these students
will probably become hardened criminals who might cause problems to the
society.
The students who were classified to this program were required to report for no
less than four hours of instruction and activity every Saturday. Short program
such as talent showcase usually starts their day, and is followed by personality
processing, confidence building, values clarification, spiritual enrichment,
nutrition, and hygiene improvement.

It has been noted that students in this scheme have significantly shown positive
behavior with increased interest in schooling. Such program is spearheaded by
the Guidance Office and Values Department.

D) Zero Trash Hour

Zero Trash Hour is a crusade to mitigate the school’s problem on solid waste
management, thereby maintaining a conducive learning environment.
Every Monday and Friday, a thirty-minute cleaning activity is allocated by each
section during adviser’s period. A simultaneous trash picking, ground cleaning,
classroom beautification and structuring, waste disposal are among the activities during
the Zero Trash Hour.
Each section is assigned to a specific area in the campus where teachers and
students work hand in hand to maintain the cleanliness of the assigned area.

This project has positively developed students’ as well as teachers’ awareness on

environmental care, as this fosters the values of discipline and perseverance.
This program includes SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING ON FLORAL
ARRANGEMENT CUM ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET CONDUCTED LAST AUGUST
5-6, 2017. Upcoming activity will be the SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT 2017
WHICH INCLUDES TABLE SKIRTING, TABLE SET UP/ APPOINTMENT (Fine Dining).
TABLE ETIQUETTE, EVENTS ORGANISING, PUBLIC SPEAKING, FLORAL
ARRANGEMENT, DISH GARDENING AND HOSTING. Other accomplished activities
under this program were the following: 4:30 clean up crusade and regular oplan
kasilyas.

E) MASTER TEACHERS’ GUILD

The master teachers guild was composed of 16 Master Teachers and were
organized to monitor mainly the Mean Percentage Score of the eight subjects
every quarter and at the same time conduct research related to academics.

F) School’s Chapel
In chapel students heard a homily from the chaplain, their teachers, or
their classmates, they enjoyed a musical or artistic offering, they
celebrated the life of a saint, they engaged in a time of quiet
contemplation, or have an opportunity to learn about and experience
another faith tradition. Students are given the opportunity to serve as
readers, and chapel musicians, served on leadership teams that help
shape the chapel program.

Project RAM (Read and Master)

The yearly conduct of oral reading survey in all English classes from Grades 7 to
10 has led to the birth of Project RAM. English teachers who are assigned as Reading
Teachers conduct remediation to students whose estimated reading levels are from
primer to Grade 3 on daily basis or depending on the level.
Students’ reading level is expected to improve through this project.

 School Governing Council

The School Governing Council is composed of the Principal, Department Heads,
Administrative Officer, Section heads, PTA President, SSG President, Barangay
Captain, and other Stakeholders. Council Meeting is held every Monday as means of
updating and planning for future direction.
This has empowered school stakeholders to take part in planning and designing
programs for students’ development.

G) BRIGADA ESKWELA 2017

The Brigada Eskwela 2017 was participated by 10,000 stakeholders with
a total of P2,000,000.00 worth of donations both cash and in kind.
Highlights of the brigada were the following advocacies: REDCROSS
