This study aims to prepare superhydrophobic paper using calcium carbonate nanoparticles derived from waste egg shells. Specifically, it aims to prepare and functionalize CaCO3 powder from eggshells with stearic acid, characterize the powder using various techniques, measure its contact angle, coat optimized ratios of the powder and polystyrene onto paper, characterize the paper using various techniques, and measure the paper's contact angle.

This study aims to prepare and characterize paper using superhydrophobic calcium carbonate nanoparticles derived from waste egg shells. Specifically it aims to: • prepare CaCO3 powder from waste eggshell. • functionalize the prepared CaCO3 powder with stearic acid. • characterize the functionalized powder using X-Ray Diffraction, SEM, FTIR, and EDX. • measure the contact angle of the powder using the Image J application. • coat the functionalized CaCO3 and optimize the loading ratio of the Polystyrene and the functionalized calcium carbonate unto paper. • characterize the paper using X-Ray Diffraction, SEM, FTIR, and EDX. • measure the contact angle of the paper using Image J application.
