CONTENT & PERFORMANCE STANDARD:

 Apply Internet online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette


standards and practice in the use of ICTs as it would relate to
their specific professional tracks.

I. OBJECTIVES:

 At the end of the class period, the teacher should be able to:

o discuss what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate


online behavior;

o make the students discern possible deceptive information


and wrongly evaluated data; and

o Make the students understand the importance of making


judgment calls on possible implications and
consequences of making certain information public.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

 Topic : Online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette


 Reference : Kto12 DepEd CG and LM
 Time : 60 min. / session (4 session/week)
 Materials : Laptop and Projector or Chalk & Board/
Hand-outs and activity sheets

 The current state of ICT technologies (i.e., Web 2.0,
3.0, convergent technologies, social, mobile, and
assistive media)
 Online systems, functions, and platforms

 Motivation

 Direct the students to go to Lesson 2 found in the


Empowerment Technologies Student Reader and answer
the challenge question, “how does your digital media life
look like?” Make them complete the sentence: “My media
life is like a _____________________ because
_____________________.”

 Presentation of the Lesson

● what are your favorite and least-favorite things to do with
digital media?

You might be interested to know that digital media can be


interchanged with more popular terms such as social
media or social networking sites. At the same time, you
might wonder: “What is social media’s role in your life?

 Summative

 To further discuss ethics and etiquette, tell the students


to pick three significant developments in science from the
Internet. Of the selected developments, identify its
possible effect on technology development and other fields
of knowledge. Add your insights regarding whether such
stories should be regulated. The students should be ready
to share their findings and insights.

 Do contentious stories really matter at all?
