FACTORS AFFECTING INTEREST AND MOTIVATION OF A STUDENT

Introduction

Students motivation can affect by several factors. These elements include

parents involvement, teachers enthusiasm, rewards, peers, the learners environment,
personal experiences, personal interest of the student, and self esteem and self image.

Components such as this weigh heavily on the understanding and importance

of learning to the students. These aspects and in creating lifelong learners. Parent
involvement is one of the most influential aspects of the students motivation. The
parents are the initial teachers of the child before the child goes in school and
encounters education through a teacher. If a parent is completely engaged in the
learning process with a child, there can be a good effect to the study of the student.
According to Patrick, Hisley, and Kempler, “The results clearly demonstrate that a
lesson that is given in a high-energy, dynamic fashion suggestive of enthusian leads
students to experience greater interest in a enjoyment of the material and higher levels
of Energy and vigor”. The authors also acknowledge that motivation reciprocal the
teachers enthusian may lead to more highly motivated students, but the energy
presented by a group inspired students also encourages the teacher. Although the pool
of participants only consisted of collage students, the results are universal. The attitude
of the teacher has direct effects on the way of thinking and learning of the students.

Review Of Related Literature

According to William & Burden (1997) found that language classrooms inculcate
confidence among students to use the new language to communicate, to discuss, to try
new ways of conveying meanings and to be trained from failures and successes

Researches have demonstrated that the performance of the students depended

upon several factors like, learning facilities, age and gender differences. The most
significant factor with the positive outcome on the performance of the students is
competence of students in English. Students having good communication skills it
expands the students’ performance (Abdullah, 2011).

Robert and Sampson (2011) investigated that the students who effectively
participate in the learning procedure are seen to have a higher CGPA (cumulative grade
point average).

Noble (2006), found that academic activities of students, perceptions of their

adapting strategies and background qualities (for example family pay, direction from
parents, number of negative circumstances in the house and parents’ level of education)
were indirectly connected to their compound scores, during academic achievement in
secondary school.
Direction is a component through which a student knows how to progress his study
approach and study schedule and is directly corresponding to academic accomplishment.
The students who are appropriately guided by their guardians have done well in the exams.
The direction from the educator also influences performance of the students. The guidance
from the guardians and the educators indirectly influence the students’ performance
(Hussain, 2006).
Raychauduri et al. (2010) examined that various studies have been concluded to
recognize those variables which are influencing academic performance of the students.
