EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR – SAOSA TEA EXTRACTS

JOB ADVERTISEMENT

Vacancies for Effluent Treatment Plant(ETP) Operators Grade I have arisen within the Tea Extracts
Division and we wish to recruit highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill these positions. These are
unionizable Graded positions and female Candidates are encouraged to apply

THE JOB HOLDER

Reporting to Effluent Co-ordinator,the ETP Operator shall ensure that all the requsite effluent parameters
as defined is achieved as per the established Standard Operating

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Undertake effluent treatment as prescribed in the Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) so as to
achieve the right parameters
b) Operate the ETP as per the established SOP and review the SOPs as may be required
c) Ensure that the effluent discharged to wetlands meets the target quality parameters
d) Carry out first line preventive maintenance of ETP and its auxilliaries
e) Proper maintenance of identified data as per the prescribed datasheet
f) Prepare effluent treatrment chemicals while ensuring safe operating stock levels at all times
g) Participate actively in all effluent treatment development trials
h) Ensure zero discharge to the environment
i) Participate in environmental audits
j) Ensure proper maintenance of the wetlands
k) Be fully conversant with Continuous Improvements/World Class Operation programs and
implement all the principles therein.

THE PERSON
The ideal candidate must possess the qualifications/competencies outlined below:

 Degree/Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Analytical Chemistry/ Environmental Science from

recognised institution
 Any knowledge in Effluent treatment (COD, BOD) and wetland management is added advantage.
 Working in a similar manufacturing industry is an added advantage
 Ability to work in the shift pattern
 Computer skills- MS- excel, MS- word, MS power point
 Good communication skills and team player
