ABSTRACT

This project study entitled “Roasted Cacao Bean Winnower” was

conducted to help the small-scale business improved the winnowing process of
roasted cacao beans. The researchers aimed to determine its essential
components in terms of supplies, tools and equipment to be used. Also, they
wanted to find out the procedures in constructing, designing and fabricating the
equipment as well as to test its functionality, effectiveness, and aesthetic value.
Moreover, they also wanted to distinguish how the improvised tool is being
described in terms of its functionality, cost effectiveness and aesthetic and
design.
The findings revealed that the machine’s total cost was Php. 8,966.00 and
the labor cost was Php. 3,834.00 which includes the material that was personally
created by the machinist. It took 140 hours to complete the machine. The
machine was found to be functional, attractive, and affordable with the overall
mean of 4.69, 4.59, and 4.52 respectively. Based on findings and results, it was
revealed that the machine possessed quality, attractiveness, affordability and
safety to the end users.
Moreover, the researchers highly recommend that the machine should be
painted with an attractive color. Further, one side of the machine can be opened
by installing hinges, to have a full view on the mechanism inside and for repair
purposes also. It is also recommended to have wheels on its stands to reduce
friction during movement on the floor. The funnel should be in a medium size and
must be assembled intact to avoid spillage.
