Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

The Information and Communications Technology Center (ICT) is given

the power and authority by the university to provide the information and
communications through technology and infrastructure for both the main and
the Cabadbaran campus. The center houses application programmers and
developers whose primary task is to develop applications and softwares as
well as web-based solutions for the students, the administration, and for the
decision makers.
They developed a mobile application capable of portable access through
student smartphones in such they can access to their student profile, class
schedules, checking payment balances, viewing their Transcript of Records,
Evaluating Professors and Instructors, checking clearance block and
checking grades is accessible in the application. The ICT center is capable of
improving the application and provides maintenance to make information
access easier for the students and throughout the foreseeable future in the
university.
However, we the researchers found out that the current mobile application
which is the “MyCSU Mobile App” that was developed by the ICT wasn’t that
useful for the students. The release of the mobile application and its existence
has been in short duration only because of its lack of features and a number
of errors it has. It is clear that the ICT or the mobile app developer didn’t meet
the expectations as well as the needs of the students in the said mobile
application which is very essential in the developing technological
advancements.

1.2 Information System Strategic Planning (ISSP)/Project Purpose

 Information System Strategic planning is the process of seeing the desired

future of an organization, and translating the vision into broad definition of goals

or objectives, and the critical steps and the risks to achieve the defined targets

within the given timeframe is a must. Information system is composed of users,

organizations data, process, procedures, methods, controls, rules, technology,

and products that interact as asystem to generate the knowledge and decision

that are necessary to deliver the expected outcomes of the project and of its

users and of the organization

. The students use their lesson-learned from the discussion of this subject

that offers methods and SMART goals in doing Information systems strategic

planning. They put together the references and tools to identify the information,

to construct the analysis, to define the options, and to compose the documents in

doing information systems strategic planning. Information systems strategic

planning promotes aligned and logically planned ICT initiatives and resource

investment for the organization. It provides the strategic fit of all programs to

match the intent, context, capability, and risks defined by the organization as a

whole.

Information and Communication Technology(ICT) should ensure that the

Mobile Application they developed should properly meet the goals and objectives

of the organization, thus, Information System Strategic Planning (ISSP) plays a

very important role to effectively manage the needed technology in a specific

industry.

1.3 Statement of the Problem

 MyCSU mobile application aren't currently widely used by the students. Even

if the ICT Center is considering improving the application and maintenance, the

mobile application is almost non-beneficial to students because of faults and

errors and also the lack of features that the application currently have. The ICT

center has not been able to capitalize on the growing trend of the fast and

efficient information distribution that an Android Application can provide through a

smartphone.

This study aimed to design, implement, deploy, maintain solutions, and

evaluate the performance of the organization using our proposed solutions.

Specifically, it aimed to answer the following questions:

1. How efficient the “MyCSU Mobile Application” in reducing the complexity of the

students?

2. In terms of information, how reliable the “MyCSU Mobile Application” is ?

1.4. Objectives of the Study

The general objective of the study was to analyze, design, evaluate performance

and validate the functionality of the proposed solution.

Specifically, the study aimed to:

1. To be able to give more convenient for the students and instructors to access

their information through their smartphones.

2. To be able to know the important announcements from the university and from

their respective instructors.

 3. To be able to solve the problems and issues of the mobile application that it
currently encountered.

1.5. Significance of the Study

The “MyCSU Mobile Application” is intended for the Caraga State

University’s students and instructors, it enable to facilitate the reservation and

acquisition of properties. By the use of this technology, it will help students and

instructors efficiently and effectively access their account. On the other hand, this

mobile application helps to minimize the need to visit the computer shop and log in

to their account via website to inquire for the information because all the necessary

information are already given using this mobile app.

With this innovative way of accessing of information, it reduces the monetary

expenses specially to students of the University and to the instructors because the

said transaction can now be done using this mobile application. Thus, this proposed

solution could be of great help for students and instructors to reduce their total

expenses.

1.6. Scope and Limitation

 The study was focused on the design, implementation, deployment and
maintenance of mobile application for Caraga State University’s students and
instructors in terms of accessing their personal data.

Other services of Caraga State University that is not related to the scope and
limitation of our studies will not be included by the researchers.
