Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday around the world.

We have many traditions around easter sunday, in some places

of the world it’s not evenn called easter sunday, it’s called
Sunday of resurection.

Hungary

“Sprinkling” is a popular Hungarian Easter Monday tradition, in

which boys playfully sprinkle perfume, cologne or water over a
young woman’s head, and ask for a kiss.

France: they make a giant omelet.

Brazil

Besides being crazy football fans, there’s a crazy tradition of

creating straw dolls to represent Judas (the apostle known for
betraying Christ) and hanging them in the streets and beating
them up and burning them.

Seville, Spain

One of the biggest Easter celebrations takes place in Seville,

where 52 different religious parade through the streets
manifesting the crucifixion,

Sweden

children dressing up as Easter witches wearing long skirts,

colourful headscarves and painted red cheeks, and go from
home to home in their neighborhoods trading paintings and
drawings in the hope of receiving sweets.

Corfu, Greece

The traditional of “Pot Throwing” takes place on the morning of

Holy Saturday. People throw pots, pans and other earthenware
out of their windows, smashing them on the street.

Czech Republic

On Easter Monday there’s a tradition in which men spank

women with handmade whips made of willow and decorated
with ribbons.

This is meant to be playful spanking all in good fun and not to

cause pain.

USA.

We have the easter bunny, hinding easter eggs and having

easter parades.

Central America:

It’s all about vacation, the government gives holy week as paid
vacation. 10 days of vacation, Thursday , Friday, Sat and Sunday
the beaches are packed, hotels are full, restaurants, pools,
airlines make money. It’s all about the business.

But the donwside is that many people die in that week,

accidents because of people drinking and driving, people
drowning at the beaches.

Even churches give “vacations” so people can I suppose “rest”

from God??

If you ask all those people what Holy week means they don’t
even know, at least they should be thankfull that Jesus died in
the cross so they can have their paid vacation, at least that.

So what really is Holy week and Resurection Sunday:

Whether it is called Easter or Resurrection Sunday is not as

important as the event and purpose of the resurrection itself

Without resurrection, Christianity would be an empty religion.

Every purpose of Jesus Christ, His atonement for sin, would be
unfulfilled and the foundation of Christianity would fall apart.

WHY?

Well because in the eyes of everyone in Jerusalem Jesus died,

that was no surprise, people die every day, Big religios leaders
die, Muhhamad died, buddha died, abraham died, so up until
then, Jesus was for most people just another prophet that could
do miracles. so what’s the big deal??

The big deal is that ONLY JESUS has risen from death on the 3 rd
day as he said he would, BUT lazaraus was resurected??? but by
whom, and he died again, JESUS will never see death again. He
rose 1 time and forever.

So today that we take communion, lets remember that a couple

of hours later Jesus was nailed to the cross for your sins, for my
sins and for the sins of the world.
