Information

Tarakeshwor Municipality is located at north part of the Kathmandu district. It is surrounded by Nuwakot
district at north, Dhading district at west. Similarly,Nagarjun and Kathmandu metropolitan city at south and
Tokha municipality at east.Tarakeshwor is a municipality in the province no.3 of Kathmandu district Nepal. The
new municipality was formed by merging seven existing village development committees (Dharmasthali,
Phutung, Goldhunga, Jitpurphedi, Kavresthali, Manamaiju and sangla) on 02 December 2014. From
geographical point of view, Tarakeshwor municipality is located from 27°45’E to 27°48’E longitude and
85°15’N to 85°21’N latitude. It covers an area of 34.9km².According to National census 2011,ithas a total
population of 82060 ,out of which 41,860(51%) are male and 40,200(49%)are females.Tarakeshwor
municipality is divided into eleven wards. It was divided into twenty one wards before March 2017. The
municipality has been executing the construction work through different modalities i.e. contractor, NGOs, Users
committees etc. The study is solely assessment of construction projects in Tarakeshwor municipality
implementing through users committee.
