Ladies and Gentlemen,

For this competition, it is hoped that awareness is created among our pupils or student on
the importance of English Language, though it is essential part of most jobs, and at some
point, all of us will have to give speech to inform, to persuade or to inspire others.

Well, the main objectives of this competition stated clearly three important points which
are:

1. To introduce and implement a culture of speech in a healthy competition

2. Secondly, applying positive values and attitudes
3. And last but not least, to improve the ability to think critically and analytically in
about current issues based on traditional argument, discussion of expression,
research and analysis of the fact which can be accounted for

Ladies and gentlemen,

The art of speech has been around for a long time. Some people are good at it and some are
not as polished. I think speech skills are something everyone should try develop and use in
daily life. I am not saying that you should shouting around your school or class every day,
but good speech skills can come in handy when you need to prove your point or make
statement.

Ok, to be an effective speaker, you don’t necessarily to have a great voice. You are not going
to be a singer. You just need to be able clearly articulate your point of view and
demonstrate the value your opinion holds with styles.

Here are a few reasons in generally why I think everyone should brush up on their speech
skills:

Firstly, you want your voice to be heard – How many times you just have been told to do
something because that’s the way it is. Good speaking skills could help you speak you mind,
especially if something isn’t well with you.
Secondly, it gives you a chance to sell your ideas – Did you ever wish someone would hear
your latest, greatest ideas for improvements in school, new project, etc.? If you have top-
notch speaking skills, you would be able to show the value of your ideas to the people who
matter.

Last but not least, when people ask for your opinion, you want to be able to present your
position in a logical way. Have you ever been asked for comments or opinions in a roomful
of people? There are usually some people who always speak up and the rest just there.
Wouldn’t it great for you to have confidence to speak up and state you opinion? That’s
another instance where good speaking skills can come in handy.

While public speaking isn’t for everyone, there is certainly value in having solid speaking
skills. Take some time to think about how you can incorporate some debates into your daily
life. Use your voice to your advantage, just be smart about it!

(Clear throat)

To end my speech, again I would like to thank everybody who has devoted their efforts to
ensure this event run smoothly as it is now we are

In the name of Allah the Gracious, the most Merciful, this Public Speaking Competition For
Secondary School is officially close.

Thank you very much everybody, Assalamualaikum…
