EMT Student,

I would like to thank you for your interest and registration in the upcoming EMT class at Sanford Health. EMS can
be a lifelong career and commitment to serve the sick and injured. EMT training provides a great foundation of
medical knowledge and use during emergency situations.

I have had the opportunity to visit with many of you by phone to address questions and inquiries. However, if
additional questions arise, feel free to call or email me.

The EMT course is conducted through an online platform requiring the students to have a computer with a
webcam and microphone. It is optimal that students utilize the best internet connection possible, therefore
direct Ethernet connection is best. Direct Ethernet connection will allow for the bandwidth required during video
streaming and interactive class sessions. I would encourage students utilizing Wi-Fi to position yourself as close to
the wireless router as you can to leverage the wireless connection and bandwidth demand.

The first night of class will be Tuesday January 29th at 6pm CST. At the first session, we will conduct a course
orientation, faculty/student introductions and establish online student accounts in the various educational
platforms tied to this class. I strongly suggest that students try and connect to the conferencing software link
before class starts to address any technical issues. The second class session will occur on Thursday February 1st at
6pm.

An email with an online meeting link will be sent to you in a separate email. It will prompt you to accept the
meeting invitation. When you accept the invitation the software will place the meeting into your calendar that
you utilize for your email account. You will access the evening classes by clicking the link embedded in the email.
You can also save the email and simply access the evening class by clicking the hyperlink embedded in the email.
Please note by accepting the meeting in invitation, it will place the meeting into your email calendar but delete it
from your email inbox.

You will need to click the hyperlink embedded (shown below) in the email
or meeting invitation. The system will ask you to utilize the web app with
audio from your computer. You will need to enter your name as a
participant in the meeting. At the bottom of the screen you will find three
round buttons. The buttons control features in the conferencing
software. There is also a communication bubble on the bottom left
side of the screen that opens a chat board that will be used
extensively during class.
