New restaurant and roo op bar in


Riverside one step closer to opening
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new restaurant and rooftop bar planned for
the Riverside district is one step closer to opening after city council has
agreed to rezone the parcel of land where the business plans to launch.

On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Land Use and Zoning Committee agreed to


rezone a 1.9-acre parcel of land at 1000 Riverside Ave. from commercial
residential and o ce (CRO) to planned unit development (PUD).

With aspirations of opening by summer of 2017, the owners of River &


Post have already begun renovations to the rst oor of the Summit
Tower owned by Padgett Premier Properties, LLC.

“We are grateful the city leaders share our vision for adding a venue
that can capture the unique views and ambiance that our river and
skyline have to o er,” said Managing Partner Je McCusker.

The seafood and steak-focused Southern American cuisine restaurant


will be a multi-level concept design with a focal point on “sweeping
views of Jacksonville’s skyline,” per a recent press release.

A full-service restaurant, chef’s table and banquet space will ll the
rst oor, and a bar - o ering both indoor and outdoor seating - will
sit atop the nine-story structure. The restaurant on the bottom oor
will be open for both lunch and dinner while the rooftop will open
during happy hour and serve dinner entrees.

“The views alone will make this venue very special, and what we have
in mind for the menu and the atmosphere of the restaurant will all
combine to make River & Post a great choice for locals and visitors
alike,” McCusker added.

In its current design, River & Post is expected to hold around 450 seats,
including a 48-seat, pet-friendly outdoor space on the rst oor. The
property o ers 179 parking spaces and ve ADA accessible spaces. A
continuous 3-foot tall evergreen hedge is planned to extend around the
designated parking lot.
Summit Tower located at the corner of Riverside Avenue and Post
Street

The Summit Tower, located at the corner of Post Street and Riverside
Avenue, was built in 1963. Approximately 69,000 square-feet of the
available 82,510 will remain mixed-use o ce space that occupies the
second through eight oors.

Owners of River & Post signed a construction contract and received


their building permit earlier this week, according to the restaurant's
marketing company, MediaShare Consulting Group, Inc. "They are full
steam ahead," Marketing Assistant Johanna Dykstra said.

The restaurant has announced that they will soon host interviews for
servers, managers and both kitchen and bar sta . The current hiring
demand, per a press release, calls for around 50 employees. The hiring
process is expected to start this summer.
