Detailed Lesson Plan in Rules in Operations on Integers

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to achieve at least 80% accuracy level in
the following behavior:

Cognitive: define Integer and the rules involving operations on Integers;

solve the problems involving operations on Integers;

Psychomotor: perform the rules in solving Operations on Integers; and

Affective: show appreciation on how important Integers in real life situation.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Rules in Operations on Integers
Prerequisite Skill: Solving Math problems through Basic Operations
Reference: Algebra for High school Textbook, Teacher’s Guide
Materials: Flash Cards, Activity Sheet , Cellphone, and Pentel Pen
Teaching Approach: Collaborative, Interactive, Constructive & Discovery Approach
Subject Integrated: English, Science
Values focus: Cooperation, Obedience, Attentiveness, and Appreciation
Time Frame: 60 minutes

III. Instructional Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Daily Activities
In the name of the Father…. Amen
1. Prayer
All stand for our opening prayer.
2. Greetings Good morning Sir!
Good morning, class!
3. Checking of Attendance
Is there any absent from the class Everybody is present today.
today?
Very Good! That’s great.

B. Review
Teacher will ask students for the
previous topic that was discussed.
Motivation
Part I. Games [PictuART]
Materials: Cellphone

Aims of PictuART games

1. To enhance creativity and thinking skills
of students
2. PictuART shows the abstract application
of Integer in real world.
3. At the end of discussion, students will
appreciate Integers in real application
base on the games they play and the
video presentation.

How to play the game?

1. Teacher will group the class into two.
Each group must have 3 presenters
(actor/actresses)
2. Presenters will action the word (tableau)
given by the teacher regarding with the
picture the is presented by the teacher

3. Each group must guess the word using

tableau. Group will have one minute
guessing.

Part 2. Group Activity

Materials: Student work sheet
Aims of group Activity

1. To develop active participation of

students in the class
2. To gain the students of advance
knowledge in the topic base on the given
task.
3. To build up self-confidence, creative and
critical thinking among students.
4. Student themselves will discover the
abstract topic through the activity and
can able to discuss it in front of the class.

Activity task
1. The teacher will divide the class into four
groups and will give those activity sheets
containing letters with problem
operations. The rules on operations of
integer are written on the students sheet

2. Each group must solve the problem on

the work sheet and arrange it from the
lowest to highest number of their
answers.

3. The first group that finished the activity

will shout a yell within their group.

4. After writing the answers on the board,

the teacher will choose students in the
group
to discuss their activity work provided
with his/her guide questions.

C. Discussion
Students will present their activity
regarding their activity work.

Teacher Guide Question:

1. What have you notice in your activity? (the answer depends on the student)

Our topic for today is all about

operations of integer.

2. How you derive with your answer? Sir, We follow the rules in solving problem
operations.

What is our topic for today? Rules in operations of Integer.

3. How will you define integer Integer is positive and negative whole number.
(used concept mapping) It has rules in performing each operation.

Rules in Addition and Subtraction: (teacher

will give examples)

 If the sign are the same just add the

Integer and keep the sign.
 If the sign are not the same just
subtract the Integer and keep the sign
of the largest number.

Rules in Multiplication and Subtraction

(teacher will give examples)

 If the sign are the same just multiply

or divide the number and keep it
positive.
 If the sign are not the same just
multiply or divide the number and
keep it negative.

We use integers in our lives because they are

everywhere in our life and we use them all
the time. We use them when calling someone
or even reading a book. We use them in
school and we need them daily in our lives,
like in work, when you look at the clock, you
read time which you are also looking at
integers. Integers help us every day in many
ways. They are all around us!!!
D. Application:

Scenario showing application of Integer and

how important it is in real life situations.

IV. Evaluation

1. -2 + 4 =
2. 7 + (-8) =
3. -6 / (-3) =
4. -23 + 31 =
5. -7 + 0 =

6. 15 – 4 =
7. -1 – 8 =
8. 8 (-2) =
9. -6 – (-11) =
10. 4 – 7 =

11. -6/(-9)=
12. -5(5)=
13. 4(-5)=
14. -5/-10 =
15. 50/10 =

V. Assignment
