Information technology normally referred to as IT in short, refers to the use of any computers,
storage, networking and other physical devices, infrastructure and processes to create, process,
store, secure and exchange all forms of electronic data. The IT includes the computer software
applications and hardware, telephones, operating system and many others.

It is normally grouped into two the general purpose computing machines and the special purpose
computing machines. The general purpose machines are the machines used to perform or carry out
more than one task at the same time. On the other hand, special purpose machines are the
machines that are designed to perform or carry out only a single task at a time. A good example is
the calculator.

Surely, the information technology (IT) is the greatest invention made on the planet earth with so
many reasons. Some of the reasons include; it is widely used in the businesses to manage and run
the business. The business improve the efficiency of their operations in order to achieve higher
profitability. It has also led to the invention of online trades like the e-commerce. These trades has
made it easier for the businesses to avail, advertise, sell and as well deliver these goods to their

Information technology has also made the communication easier. The invention has really supported
the communication technology in so many ways and reasons. Some of the reasons put forward are;
the IT has facilitated the communication by reducing the cost of transport where one had to travel a
distance of miles in order to meet a family member living a far place. Due to the IT invention, it has
become so easy to get to them and communicate with them using the mobile phones without having
to get to where they are.

Information technology has also improved the academics in a way that they have been use in the
academics institutions and other social amenities like the schools and hospitals. The IT gargets are
nowadays used in the hospitals for surgery purposes and for storing the hospitals records. They are
also used to observe the internal body by the use of x-rays. The IT gargets are also used in for
academics purposes where they used for carrying out academics researches. They are used for
carrying out scientific researches by the scientists. The use of the IT gargets has also made it known
that there are other planets existing apart from the earth. These gargets are also used to explore
outside the planet earth like going to the sun, moon and other planets like Mars.
