In the holly book Quran, it’s clearly stated that those who have education are not equal to those who lack it.
Islam religion emphasize hugely on education and
equality. It’s obvious if a person does not have education he/she cannot distinguish between right and wrongdoing. In a democratic form of government people have certain rights which amongst them is the Quality education. Quality education is a human right and a public good.
Quality education ensures equity in society. If
people lack education they do not know themselves and don’t understand their own rights and responsibilities as well as the rights of other human beings. As a result they might be deviated from the path of humanity and may resort to evil actions. For instance in my country Afghanistan due to lack of education which has deep roots in progressive war, the rights of people are violated. People rights are violated not by another creatures, rather unfortunately it is done by human beings only. Due to lack of education one individual shed the blood of his own fellow being which is same to him. Violence against women is another inequity which also esteems from lack of education. In majority of families in my country women are treated like slaves and their rights are not observed and their wants as human beings are overlooked as a whole.
To conclude briefly, we are in dire need of Quality
education for the sake of development in every aspect of life and basically for eliminating the persistent inequities and imbalances in our community which deter us from the path of humanity, modernization and development. What is an insight you have had about your first priority SDG?
It’s obvious that one of the best creatures of God is the
creation of human being. Because humans are not idle creatures. They are bestowed intellect, sense and the power of thinking. the intellect separates humans from animals. Our life on this globe has a very huge purpose of construction and making the world a better place not only for us rather also for future generations.
Human has the power to change the world, develop,
modernize and construct it and make it a better place for a welfare life only by a potential instrument which is called education.
The world in which we live today is the heritage of
past generations left to us over the centuries and this process will keep continuing. Since the dawn of civilization many kingships and governments rouse and then were substituted by another ruling dynasties. Of course the decisions of the people and their governments in every era had been followed by either constructive consequences or destructive results not only in their own life, rather for their Subsequent generations as well.
In the current era we are blessed to have democratic
type of government. We are the masters of our own destinies, because public opinion has an important role to play in the policy formation and law making through legislature the representatives of the people in parliament. Therefore when our people possess quality education we will have knowledgeable representatives in our government from amongst ourselves. And an educated nation can ask the government for its policies and projects, they can monitor the government for transparency in public programs and infrastructural projects. By the privilege of possessing knowledge, people can understand what is good for the welfare of them and what is better for a prosperous life of their children. So they can put pressure on government for sustainable development and modernization. Based on the above insight, is there an idea/ solution you would like to share that can help move the needle on this problem?
Rising awareness of people about the
significance of education. For the above mentioned priority we can form a team of voluntary aspirant youths to have a survey over the families, discuss with them about the causes they don’t send their children to school and education centers. After the survey the team should share their findings with civil society and provincial council of their own province and youth activists, and altogether collectively discuss with officials so that by putting pressure on government and funding agencies to devise solutions for that problem. Forming voluntary community youths team to form gatherings by coordinating with community elders and religious scholars in order for encouraging families to send their children to schools and education centers. Peaceful protests for the sake of fostering quality education for all. Asking the government to provide job opportunities for youth. Asking traders and businessmen to establish factories inside the country for employment of youths. many youths are the bread winners of their families . We should make associations to encourage families to pay voluntarily some amount of money from their monthly income so that collectively and by transparent spend of this amount we can fund those families that because of financial problems do not send their children to school.
Give your background , how do you think you can
best contribute to the SDG agenda after National Youth symposium?
I have born and grown up in a society where people
have been suffering from numerous challenges, consisting of War, insecurity, illiteracy, none access to sanitation and medical facilities, hunger, famine, drought, discrimination, arbitrariness, violence against women and many more problems. My father is a government employee with getting less salary he supported me and my brothers and sisters to study and provided for us the opportunity to get education although with not enough facilities for us. Despite of many problems in my society I have the honour that graduated school and also I graduated from university.
Now I am a youth having knowledge and huge
experience about my society. I understand what does a child and a youth need. I understand the pain and problems of the youths of my community because I am coming from among them and I have grown up together with them.
To conclude, during the National Youth symposium I
will have discussions and change of views with another aspirant and active youths. We will reach to an understanding and our commitment will be to work for the welfare of community and make our society a better place for people.
If I am given the opportunity to participate the
National Youth symposium, I will accomplish a huge knowledge and a strong motivation to hard work for positive change and sustainable realization of sustainable development goals in my community. How will NYS on SDGs help you achieve your broader career goals and personal aspirations?
I believe that National symposium of youths will
inculcate a bright insight in me and self realization. I will be an ideal person who will have big goals and dreams for betterment and sustainable development of society. I will better learn that it is not the aim of a youth to be happy himself and enjoy a better life with his family and overlook the society around and ignore the next generation.
After completing the NYS, I will be more self
confident, in any job interview I will provide better views and also when I will get a job I will work sincerely and with great devotion together with my colleagues for the welfare of our people and I will be a good civil servant as well a good representative of my society. I will sure be a leader in my community, a leader of change, a leader who will sacrifice and work with other youths in society, a leader who will instill positive thinking and motivation in people. I will enlighten other youths and will stay committed to work for growth and development of my community and my country. Have you ever had any work experience related to the SDG you have chosen?
Yes , I have related experience to the SDG. I have
been teaching English and Persian language primary level for children in ALC (Adults learning centre), since 2016 in my home province kunduz. Since my childhood I had a huge passion in writing and reading. My relatives wondered whenever they saw me that I was mostly busy with painting and writing.
Besides that, I taught Islamic subjects and the holy
Quran to boys and girls in my neighborhood and for that I had a good reputation and popularity in our locality. Everyone even elders liked me and respected me. This process is continuing till now and I am very much interested in imparting knowledge to others.
