Techniques of

presentation
REALISM
This means of presenting the subject is largely dependent
on the artist’s interest, imagination, creativity and
purpose.

No art is said to be an exact replica of nature.

ABSTRACTION
The quality of dealing with ideas rather than events.
"topics will vary in degrees of abstraction"

Freedom from representational qualities in art.

Abstraction in its main sense is a conceptual process where

general rules and concepts are derived from the usage and
classification of specific examples, literal ("real" or "concrete")
signifiers, first principles, or other methods.
ABSTRACTION
When an artist is overwhelmed by a phase
of a scene and does not display the
subject as an objective reality , but shows
only his idea or his feeling about it.
It is the creative expression of the artist
using his own technique of streamlining
and organizing objects and elements.

Abstraction is nonrepresentational as it
focuses on the structure and form rather
than on the object itself.
DISTORTION
Technique of the artist to dramatize the shape of the
figure to generate an emotional effect.

It is done when the figure has been drawn so that

proportions deviate obviously from the natural
appearance and measurement, twisting, stretching, or
deforming the innate form of the object.
ELONGATION
An artistic method of lengthening, or
protracting, or extending the natural form
of an object to focus on the movement, or
texture, or shape.
MANGLING
An uncommon scheme to present an abstract subject
used by a few artist who portray subjects or objects
which are cut, lacerated, mutilated or slashed with
repeated blows.
CUBISM
The cubist, as referred to by art enthusiasts to artist who
use such mode of abstraction, stresses of other pictorial
elements wanting to show forms in their fundamental
geometrical shapes.
ABSTRACT EXPRESSION
A style of abstraction characterized by great enthusiasm,
use of large canvasses, and purposely lack of refinement in
paint application.

Includes vivid colors, unique technique of applying paint so

thickly that brush knife strokes can be seen, uneven brush
strokes, and rough textures, which departs totally from the
subject matter, from studied accuracy, and from any kind of
defined design.
SYMBOLISM
Artistic use of representations or the artistic method of
revealing ideas or truths that sought to evoke, rather than
describe, ideas or feelings through the use of symbolic
images.

The use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities.

FAUVISM
The attempt of fauves or artist who belong to the
movement of fauvism is to paint pictures of elation,
delight and comfort.

They do not follow any ethical, philosophical, or

psychological theme. They use exceptionally intense
colors such as red, yellow and green.
DADAISM
The presentation of art is playful and highly experimental
as the term dada means nothing.

The artwork is ambiguous and meaningless as it functions

to shock and provoke the public with outrageous pieces.

Artist deliberately use everyday objects as sculptures and

subjects of paintings because it was simply nonsensical.
FUTURISM
The subject of the art depiction are machine and motion.

Futurism was characterized by the attempted depiction

of several movements of a subject at the same time.
Most of the subjects are automobiles, railroad trains, and
other objects that express the tense life of modern city.
SURREALISM
The art tries to reveal a new and higher reality than daily
life. Surrealism is a coined word denoting super realism.
Surrealist claim to create forms and images not primarily
by motivation but by unthinking impulse and blind
sentiment or by accident.
EXPRESSIONISM
The artist attempts to present an emotional experience in
its most persuasive form to express subjective feelings and
emotions rather than to depict reality or nature
objectively.
Wala na finish na!
