Closing a 4100XPB GUI Project

(for access to other Windows Programs)

From time to time it may become necessary to use the Operator Interface
onboard one of our excavators to run other software or perform special functions.
To do so you will have to close and stop the RSView project. Two methods may
be used; one will simply close and stop the project, allowing access to additional
software and the other will actually shut down the running applications. Both
methods have advantages and disadvantages. For either method, a keyboard is
required (as an option, the keyboard of a laptop connected by a remote control
software package may also be used).

Method #1 – Closing a Project:

1. Press the [CTRL] and [F4] keys simultaneously to get to the Project
Directory window of RSView.

2. At the bottom of this window will be a large button entitled STOP

PROJECT. Pressing this button on the TouchScreen will do just that and
display the RSView32 Runtime window.

3. You can now Minimize the RSView32 Runtime window, leaving you at the
Windows Desktop for access to other applications.

4. When you finish working with your other application, you should Maximize
RSView32 Runtime from the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen.

5. The Project Directory window will now have its large button labeled as
RUN PROJECT. Press this button to return to normal operation.

Method #2 – Shut Down Applications:

1. The [ALT] and [F4] buttons, when pressed simultaneously will shut down
the active window. You may use this keystroke combination to first
shutdown RSView32 Runtime including the Project.

2. If additional programs need to be shut down you can use the same
method ([ALT] and [F4] buttons) until you are at the Windows Desktop. At
this point you can access your other applications.

3. Once you have finished with your other application you can continue to
shut down the GUI/OAP system so that it may start up “cleanly”. Either by
selecting START > SHUT DOWN… or by again using the [ALT] and [F4]
buttons the shut down will commence.

4. The first window that will appear will the confirmation that you want to Shut
Down Windows. Before continuing by answering “Yes”, make sure that
“Shut Down the Computer” is selected and NOT “Restart the Computer”.

5. The next window that appears will just inform you that the Shutdown is in
Progress and that unsaved data is being saved.

6. Finally, the Shutdown Computer window will appear. At this window you
may remove power from the OAP Processor. Alternately, you may also
select the [RESTART] from this window to restart the system “cleanly”.
