FOREWORD
Thank you for being present Allah SWT,because of his blessings
and grace so that we can finish our report smoothly and as it should.
This report is one of the tasks in the field of English language
subjects which aims to increase our insight into the dangers of this
tsunami.
We realize that our report is far from perfect, therefore, constructive
criticism and suggestions from various parties, we hope for the perfection
of this report.
Will the existence of this report, we hope that this report has fulfilled
the task and received good grades, as well as useful for friends.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND OF STUDY
A tsunami is a sudden movement of a body of water causd by a
sudden change in the sea level. Surface change can be caused by
earthquakes centered under the sea, underwater volcanic
eruptions, underwater landslides, or sea meteor strikes. In the
sea, tsunami waves can travel at speeds of 500-1000 KM per hour.
Equal to airplane’s speed. Wave heigh at sea only around 1 meter.
Thus, the rate of waves is not felt by ships that are in the middle of the
sea. When approaching the beach, the speed of the tsunami wave
decreases to 30 KM per hour, but is height has risen to tens of meters.
The impact of the tsunami waves can enter up to tens of kilometers
from the shoreline. Damage and casualties that occur because of
tsunami can be caused due to the impact of water or material carried
by the tsunami wave flow.
B. PUROASE OF STUDY
In general, the purpose of the proposal is to get permission or
approval from one party regarding the plan or design to be carried out.
In addition, proposals are also often made for funding or sponsorship
through cooperation with other parties. In addition to an explanation
of the details of the activites to be carried out, generally in the proposal
also stated about the funds that will be needed in its implementation.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
A. UNDERSTANDING OF THE TSUNAMI

Tsunamis is a series of ocean waves that can travel at speeds of

up to more that 900km/h,mainly due to aerthquakes that occur at
the bottom of the sea. The speed of tsunami waves depends on the
depth of the sea. This is almost the same as a jet plane. However, the
wave height in the middle of te sea is not more than 60 cm. As a
result, ships sailing above it rarely feel a tsunami. Between the peaks
of the wave peaks ranging from 10 minutes to 1 hour.
B. THE COUSE OF THE TSUNAMI
1. An earth quake centered ander the sea.
Seabed aerthquakes that can cause tsunamis are earthquakes
with the following criteria;
 Eeatquakes that accur at the bottom of the sea
 Eartquake centers les than 30 km.
 Eartquake magnitude greater than 6,0 SR.
 Type earthquake classified as vertical fault (fault up or
down).
Tsunamis can be generated by any disturbance that quickly
removes a very large water mass, such as an earthquake, volcanic
eruption, star or meteor rock or landslide. However, the most
common cause is from earthquake below sea level.small earths can
create tsunami as a result of landslides below sea level or
4

ocean floor capable of generating tsunamis.Tsunamis can form

when the ocean floor changes vertically and moves water above
it.Whit a vertical movement of the earth’s crust, this occurs in the
meeting area of the plate called subduction.

2. Volcanic eruptions
Volcanic eruption can cause volcanic earthquake
(earthquake caused by volcanic eruptions).
3. Underwater landslide.
Underwater landslides occur due to collisions between
oceanic planic plates and continental plantes.
4. The impact is at sea
The fall of a large meteor in the sea which wa the cause of
the tsunami.

C. THE IMPACT OF THE TSUNAMI

 POSITIVE IMPACT
1) Natural disasters claimed many victims, so employment
became widely open to those who were still alive.
2) Psychological uses, collaborating and working together
to help disaster victims, have the effect of realizing that
humans need each other one another.
3) We can find out where our buildings are built and their
weaknesses, and we can make new innovations for
deterrence if the disaster comes back, but with better
construction.
 NEGATIVE IMPACT
1) Damage anything that goes through it like
buildings, plants, and resulting in human, water and
causing inundation, salt water pollution, agricultural
land, land and clean water.
2) The government will be overwhelmed in the
implementation of post-disaster development due to
large funding factors.
3) Many skilled workers are victims, making it difficult to
find suitable experts in the field of work.
CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION AND SUGESTION

A. CONCLUSION
Tsunami is a sea wave caused by earquakes, landslides,
meteors or volvanic eruptions that occur at sea .
The occurrence of tsunami is caused by adisturbance that
causes the displacement of large amounts of water to overflow to
the land like an earthquake volcanic eruption but 90% of tsunami is
due to an underwater earthquake.
The impact of tsunami mostly result in severe damage and
many casualties and property, so there needs to be an effort to deal
with sunnah both in a state of anxiety, preparation for sunnah and
after tsunami. There are also various ways to cope with the tsunami
disaster.

B. SUGESTION
To anticipate the arrival of the tsunami which until now
cannot be accurately predicted and where it will occur, the
following steps can be taken;be vigilant and actively monitor
information about tsunami hazards from the outhorities on the
potential for tsunami especially those who live near beach.
Determine a place that has a high and safe shelter in the event of a
tsunami. Provide food and drinking water supplies for emergency
and refugee purposes. Prepare a backpack containing items that
are badly needed in the place of evacuation such as frist aid kits or
medicines.
C. CLOSING
Thus we make this report in truth. Thank you to god almighty
who made it easy for us so that this report was made. And to
friends who have helped in the process of making this report. We
as group members request as much as possible if there are errors
and deficiencies in this report. Hopefully the report that we make is
a reference and motivation in the spirit of learning, especially in
English.
