MODEL 963, 964

Location

A3 Drive control (CPC) control unit

W30.35-1237-11

The drive control (CPC) control unit (A3) is located on the passenger-
side in the electronics compartment.

Task Automatic gear selection (for code G5G (Mercedes PowerShift 3))
The drive control (CPC) control unit (A3) calculates various control Monitoring of the coolant level
factors relevant for the driving cycle for the following functions Monitoring of the charging current
dependent on the current transmission mode: Monitoring of the air filter
Cruise control Legal speed limit
Variable speed limiter Suppression or request of manual regeneration of the diesel
Proximity Control Assist (for code S1l (Proximity Control Assist)) particulate filter (DPF) dependent on regeneration blocking/ manual
Engine brake (computation of braking torque) regeneration switch position button (S943) (for code M5Z (EURO
Retarder actuation (computation of braking torque (for code B3H VI engine version))
(Secondary water retarder))) Computation/correction of the engine specified torque
Coolant temperature management

Additional function for code G5H (shift mechanism, manual): Monitoring of the transmission oil temperature
Evaluation of clutch travel Actuation of the power-assisted gear shifting
Monitoring of the transmission input speed Actuation of the splitter group

According to the tasks performed the drive control (CPC) control unit Electronic Brake Control (EBS) control unit (A10c) (Knorr)
(A3) is positioned in the Control Area Network (CAN) as the central Retarder control (RCM) control unit (A11)
interface (Gateway) between the frame CAN (CAN 3) and the drive Parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (A22)
train CAN (CAN 4). The CAN messages which are relevant for the Tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (A35)
respective functions relevant are supplied by other control units over
