The minutes of the General Body Meeting of the Bharathidasan
University Sports and Tournaments Committee held at Srimathi Indira
Gandhi College for women, Trichy at 10.30 a.m on 06.07.2019.

Dr.K.Muruganantham, chaired the meeting. Mrs.R.Nithya, Convenor

for Women Tournaments welcomed the members. Dr.A. Palanisamy,
Professor and Head, Secretary of the Sports committee gave a brief report
about the achievements of the University Teams in various Inter-University
competitions and thanked all the Directors of Physical Education for their
hard work and moral support. The meeting was adjourned for tea by
11.30 a.m.

After the break, the meeting was chaired by Dr.K.Muruganantham.

The members made their self introduction. Dr.D.Prasanna Balaji, Convenor
for Men Tournaments presented the Annual report and accounts for the
year 2018-2019 and it was unanimously passed in the meeting. Regarding
football tournament after lengthy discussion Dr.D.Prasanna Balaji, Director
of Physical Education, National College, withdrew his contention and
accepted to conduct the Men Football tournament.

Election of Convenor – Men

Prof. D.Murugaraj, Director of Physical Education, AVVM Sri

Pushpam College, Poondi proposed, Dr. J. Sridhar Thangadurai, Director
of Physical Education, TBML College, Porayar for Convenor, Men
Tournaments 2019 – 2020 which was seconded by Dr. J. Rajkumar,
Director of Physical Education, AVC College, Mayiladuthurai. Since no
other nominations were received, Dr. J. Sridhar Thangadurai, Director of
Physical Education, TBML College, Porayar was unanimously elected as
Convenor- Men Tournaments for the year 2019-2020.

Election of Convenor – Women

Dr. V. Uma, Director of Physical Education, ADM College for women,
Nagapattinam proposed Dr. C. Malathy, Director of Physical Education,
AVVM Sri Pushpam College, Poondi for Convenor Women Tournaments,
which was seconded by Dr.T. Suthamathi, Director of Physical Education,

Seethalakshmi Ramasamy College, Tiruchirappalli. Since no other
nominations were received Dr. C.Malathy Director of Physical Education,
AVVM Sri Pushpam College, Poondi was unanimously elected as Convenor
Women Tournaments for the year 2019-2020.

Dr. A. Palraj Director of Physical Education, Bishop Heber College was

nominated as Trichy Division convenor for the year 2019 - 2020.

Dr. A. Palanisamy Professor & Head, Department of Physical

Education, Secretary Sports of Bharathidasan University has given brief
introduction about the a newly elected convenors Dr.J.Sridhar Thangadurai
Men and Dr.C.Malathy women with greetings. Dr.C.Malathy thanked the
members for electing them as Convenors for the 2019-2020.

Dr. D.Prasanna Balaji proposed vote of thanks.

All India Inter-University medalists for the year 2018 – 2019.

 All India Inter University Athletic Championship 2018 – 2019 was

held at Mangalore University, Mangalore in which
Ms.S.Dhanalakshmi of Seethalakshmi Ramasami College, Trichy
bagged Silver Medal in 100 Meters run with the performance of
11.69 Seconds and also she got Gold Medal in 200 Meters run event
with New Meet Record of 23.24 seconds. She was awarded “Best
Athlete” in women category of 79th All India Inter University Athletic
Championship for the year 2018 – 2019.

 In the 79th All India Inter University Athletic Championship for the
year 2018 – 2019, Mr.S.Veeramani of National College, Trichy
secured Bronze Medal in High Jump event with the performance of
2.08 Meters.

 Further, Bharathidasan University 4 x 100 meters Men Relay team

consist of Mr.A.Vignesh, Mr.A.Arul Jothi Nivas, Mr.Vikash Vinnesh
and Mr.M.Anandha Krishnan was secured Bronze Medal with the
performance of 45.51 Seconds in the 79th All India Inter University
Athletic Championship for the year 2018 – 2019.

 In the All India Inter University Weight Lifting Championship for the
year 2018 – 2019, Mr.N. Ajith of AVC College, Mannampandal
secured Gold Medal in 73 K.g., category.

 In the All India Inter University Weight Lifting Championship for the
year 2018 – 2019, Mr.E. Siva of St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli
secured Bronze Medal in 89 K.g., category.

 Our Bharathidasan University Football (Women) Team participated in

the Tamil Nadu Inter University Tournaments organized by Sports
Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Chennai (SDAT), held at
Sathyabama University, Chennai from 09-10-2018 to 10-10-2018 and
won the Silver Medal (Runner Up ).

 Our Bharathidasan University Hockey (M) Team participated in the

Tamil Nadu Inter University Tournaments organized by Sports
Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Chennai (SDAT), held at SRM
University, Chennai from 26-11-2018 to 28-11-2018 and won the
Silver Medal (Runner Up).

 Our Bharathidasan University Team participated in the Tamil Nadu

Inter University Athletics Tournaments organized by Sports
Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Chennai (SDAT), held at
University of Madras from 10-12-2018 to 11-12-2018 and won medals
in the following events.

The minutes of the General Body Meeting of the Bharathidasan
University Sports and Tournament committee held at TBML College
Porayar on 17/07/2019.

The Meeting was called to order by Dr.Gene George, Principal TBML

College, Porayar and Chairman of men Tournaments. Dr.J. Sridhar
Thangadurai Convenor for Men Tournaments welcomed the gathering.

Dr.Gene George Principal TBML College, Porayar and chairman of

men tournaments presided over the meeting. Dr.A. Palanisamy, Professor &
Head, Department of Physical Education & Secretary, (Sports)
Bharathidasan University gave a brief report about the achievements of the
University Teams in various Inter-university competitions, and thanked all
the Directors of Physical Education for their hard work and moral support.

After tea break, the meeting was chaired by Dr.K.Muruganantham.

The dates and venues for the Inter-Collegiate Tournaments were fixed for the
year 2019 - 2020. The Managers, Coaches and Selection Committee
Members were nominated for various University teams. The fixtures for the
Divisional Tournaments (Cricket) were drawn for the year 2019 – 2020 in his
presence of Secretary (Sports), Bharathidasan University.

Any other matters

01. Football tournament for Men for the year 2018-19 was not completed
due to the protest against St.Josephs’s College, Trichy by National
College, Trichy. St. Jospeph’s’ College, Trichy has substituted four
players in a particular match it is a violation. Unfortunately, it was not
officially recorded in the match score sheet by the match officials.
Dr.A.Palanisamy, Professor & Head, Department of Physical Education,
Sports Secretary of Bharathidasan University, explained in the last two

 protest committee meeting that genuine behavior from Team Manager,
Coaches of concerned teams, Local organizers should be responsible for
the same. Finally, Dr.D.Prasanna Balaji, Director of Physical Education,
National College came forward to withdraw his protest and then the date
was fixed as 22nd July 2019 for the conduct of Football Tournament for
Men (2018 – 2019) at National College, Tiruchirappalli.

02. Dr. A. Neethi, Director of Physical Education, Thiru. Vi. Ka. Govt. Arts
College, Thiruvarur raised question regarding the clarification for
drawing fixtures of Inter Collegiate Tournaments. Dr.A.Palanisamy,
Professor & Head, Secretary Sports has replied to the said clarification
in request of drawing fixation. After seeding the teams, the name of the
teams are to be taken by lot and it should be placed in writing from top
to the bottom of the fixture serially and uniformly for both Men and
Women tournaments.

03. Dr.N.S.Sivakumar, Director of Physical Education, Urumu

Dhanalakshmi College, Trichy has read out the names of the Director of
Physical Education who has completed and acquired Ph.D., in the year
2018 – 2019. Dr.A.Palanisamy, Professor and Head, honoured them
with a shawl namely Dr.T.Suthamathi, Dr.Vasantha Kokila,
Dr.K.Pradeep Kumar, Dr.C.Balaji and Dr.Akila.

04. It was resolved to instruct the organizers of the Tournament

rescheduling of Tournaments, Postponement and any other related
things of the Tournament should be informed by post and also
WhatsApp group messages and also through E.Mail if possible.

05. Further, it was resolved that the issues taken for its consideration for
the year 2018 - 2019 which would remain as the same for the year
2019-2020 also.

06. If any protest in future, the decisions of the Protest Committee are final
and the same may be informed to the authorities concerned for its’
further proceedings.
