Objective
• Sequence and Series
o Students would be able to construct the 𝑛-th term of a sequence
o Students would be able to identify an arithmetic sequence correctly
o Students would be able to identify a geometric sequence correctly
o Students would be able to solve questions related to arithmetic and geometric sequences correctly
o Students would be able to generalize a series into a sigma notation
o Students would be able to use the standard results for ∑ 𝑟 , ∑ 𝑟 2 , ∑ 𝑟 3 to find related sums
o Students would be able to use the formulae for the 𝑛-th term and for the sum of the first 𝑛 terms to solve
problems involving arithmetic and geometric sequences
o Students would be able to use the condition for the convergence of a geometric series, and the formula for the
sum to infinity of a convergent geometric series
o Students would be able to expand (𝑎 + 𝑏)𝑛 for 𝑛 ∈ 𝑍 + using Pascal Triangle correctly

• Limits and graphs
o Students would be able to evaluate the value of a limit of a function using the appropriate technique
o Students would be able to show the continuity of a function
o Students would be able to sketch graphs of simple rational functions
o Students would be able to show some significant features of sketching a graph, such as its turning points, the
asymptotes (vertical, horizontal, and oblique asymptotes), and the intersections with the axes
• Derivatives

o Students would be able to use the concept of differentiation to solve implicit functions
o Students would be able to find the derivative of an inverse function, a logarithm function, a trigonometric function,
and an inverse trigonometric function

• Integration
o Students would be able to understand integration as the reverse process of differentiation
o Students would be able to integrate some simple algebraic functions correctly using the rules for integration
o Students would be able to apply substitution technique and integration by parts to find the antiderivative of several
functions correctly
o Students would be able to solve problems involving the evaluation of a constant of integration
o Students would be able to evaluate definite integrals correctly using Riemann sums
o Students would be able to use definite integration through Riemann sums to find the area of a region under a curve
or bounded by two different curves or functions
o Students would be able to use definite integration to find the volume of revolution about one the axes
• Proof by Induction
o Students would be able to use the method of mathematical induction to establish a given result
o Students would be able to recognize situations where conjecture based on a limited trial followed by inductive proof
is a useful strategy, and carry this out in simple cases
