Dec. 7, 1941- Attack of the Pearl Harbor
After world war II, the first clinical laboratory was build at
Quiricada St., Sta. Cruz, Manila: 26th medical laboratory
by the 6th US Army
February 1944
they started training high school graduates to work as lab
technicians for a year
- laboratory facilities were not utilized and it was not longer
used because science was not popular then
June 1945
staff of the 6th US Army left the place leaving the laboratory to
the National Department of Health
Dr. Alfredo Pio De Roda
Filipino doctor and well known Bacteriologist; preserved the
remains of the laboratory together with the help of Dr. Mariano
Icasiano (the first city help officer of Manila)
October 1, 1945
The preserved laboratory was formally established by Dr.
Alfredo Pio De Roda with the help of Dr. Prudencio Sta. Ana

University of Santo Tomas (UST) offered an elective to
Pharmacy leading to Medical Technology course under Dr.
Antonio Gabriel and Dr. Gustavo Reyes

Bureau of Education officially approved the 3 year medical
technology course and the following year, the 4th year
internship program was approved
