Lesson Plan in Grade 7 Science

June 18-22, 2018
COMPETENCIES:
1. Investigate properties of unsaturated or saturated solutions.
2. Express concentrations of solutions quantitatively by preparing
different concentrations of mixtures.
DAY 1
I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

1. differentiate solute from solvent,
2. determine the universal solvent,
3. cite the kinds of solute and solvent.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Solvent and Solute

Materials: Pictures, pieces of paper, marker,

PROCEDURE
A. PRELIMINARIES

a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Classroom Checking
d. Motivation (4 Pics, One Word)
The class will be divided into three (3) groups. What are they
going to do is to find out the mystery word using the given pictures.
Each group will write their answer on the piece of paper given to
them. The group who can get the answer right will be given a point.

B. ACTIVITY

a. Setting of Standards
Before the next activity, these are the things that must be put
into consideration:
1. All members are expected to cooperate.
2. Each group will present a clear answer.
b. Do It!
Each group will be given a situation then, they are going to
present their answer by doing the assigned actions on the words
“SOLUTE” and “SOLVENT”. If the answer is SOLUTE, the group

will clap their hands. On the other hand, if the answer is

SOLVENT, the group will stomp their feet.

C. ANALYSIS
How were you able to know that there are different solutes and
solvent?

D. ABSTRACTION
Solute- this is the substance that makes up the smaller part of the
solution. This is the part that is dissolved.

Solvent: this is the substance that makes up the bigger part of the
solution. This is the part where the solute is dissolved. Universal
solvent is water.

E. APPLICATION
Cite the components of saltwater and calamansi juice.

III. EVALUATION
1. Cite ten (10) examples of solute and and solvent.

IV. AGREEMENT
Do a research on the following item:
1. What are the states of matter?
