Check Printer Business Edition - preprinted check printing software.

====================================================================
This program prints: payee, amount, word amount, date, memo, signature and extra
info (i.e. DL# or phone#) onto any preprinted check.
Built in Layout Editor enables support for wide range of printers and checkbook
check layouts.

----------------------------
***Clean Installation
1. Unzip and Run CPBE58Setup.exe.
2. Start the program, on account creation go to 'Settings' and customize it.

------------------------------------------
***Installation over an older version
1. Unzip and Run CPBE57Setup.exe.
2. As destination folder, select the folder where the old version was installed.
Setup will autodetect if you're installing over an older version and give you a
n option not to create shortcuts.
3. After setup completes start the program as you did before and verify the sett
ings.
4. If you installed this version over version 3.5 and lower -> Go to Settings, t
hen Layout Editor and check the layout. The new Layout Editor is not fully compa
tible with old (version 3.5 and lower) Layout.dat file.

---------------------------
***Setup of the program
If you installed over version 3.5 and lower and all "clean" installs read on.
Important: Program sets its printer parameters, so please leave your windows pri
nter on default (i.e. 8.5x11 portrait).
After installing the program you will need to check the layout since the checkbo
ok checks come
in different shapes. Start the program and press 'Edit layout' button. To set ma
rgins and check to printer alignment select 'Alignment' from the menu. Put a cle
an sheet of 8.5 x 11 format into the printer and click 'Print sample'. Once the
page has printed tear-off a check from your checkbook and match it by placing th
e sheet on white monitor (something like doctor viewing X-rays) and the check on
top of the printed area.
If any printout is off, you will need to adjust it in the Layout dialog.
You'll also see how your printer placed the check - I recommend using default la
yout with printers
that have envelope slot in the center then placing check longway (just like an e
nvelope).
With older printers you may need to set orientation to portrait (in layout edito
r) and adjust the margins.
For center bin (dot matrix) set right margin to 1.25 and bottom to 0,
for fixed bin use 0 for both margins.
Go from there; try different settings and print sample again.
Another solution for printer with no (or too wide) envelope slot from Jay Smith:
"I recently came across your software program. Very nice! One problem I had wa
s sending my personal checks through my inkjet printer. The solution I found is
to use the "glue sticks" that are commonly available
from stationary and office supply stores. The glue used is very weak and doesnt
hold too well.
But it does very well to temporary hold a check to a 8x11 piece of paper long en
ough to send through the printer.
Afterwards the check will easily peel off the larger paper with no damage."
Font support:
Fonts installed on your system in alphabetical order.
Please remember though, the default layout was designed with Arial 10
and if you wish to use any other font/size you may need to adjust the layout.
QMP:
In order to use QMP you must install Generic/Text Only printer on C:\FILEPORT.PR
N port.
If you dont know how to do this refer to QMP.txt or qmp.htm.
Note:
All .dat files from earlier versions are compatible with one exception -- Layout
.dat from version 3.5 or lower. To fix it you need to readjust the layout in lay
out editor and save it.

----------------------------
***Batch Printing explained
Since the help file wasn't updated, here are the instructions for the new featur
e: Batch Printing.
This feature is accessible directly from the Print button (click the small down
arrow on the right side of it) or use ALT-B keyboard shortcut. Once the window o
pens you have several options of importing/loading your data:
1. Load backup of your payee list (created in Payee Editor), .plb extension
2. Import Excel .csv comma delimited file (same format as payee list in Payee ed
itor). The format is:
Column1=Select/Deselect [numeric 1 or 0]
Column2=PayeeName [any string, quotes with commas in strings]
Column3=Memo [any string, quotes with commas in strings]
Column4=Amount [numeric, string as currency mark only (in front) is allowed]
3. Load predefined (previously saved) Batch List file, .pbl extension
When your data file is loaded you may uncheck any records you dont want printed
in this particular session and save the batch in current condition for future us
e either in Batch List file format or the Excel's .csv.
There is no limit on how many checks can be printed in a batch.
Program will remember your last list and Drive/Folder location of the batch file
saving you time from session to session if you use network drives, etc.
To save yourself from nagging "did it print correctly" dialog I recommend disabl
ing the 'Print confirmation' option in Settings, however any misprinted check wi
ll need to be voided manually in the Register.
Any error while loading data means that the data is in the wrong format. Please
make sure you compare any manually created list to the format of a payee backup
file if you get any errors.
