Chapter 2

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The researchers conduct a descriptive research entitled as “ Strategies of the

Students to Improve their Practical Skills in electrical Installation and Maintenance Work in

Quirino, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. A descriptive research is defined to be a type of quantitative

research which is use to describe characteristics of a situation being studied. It does not

answer questions about how/when/why the characteristics occurred. Rather it addresses

the “what” question which uses characteristics to describe a situation on which frequently

some kind of categorical scheme also known as descriptive categories. The study entitled

“Strategies of the Students to Improve their Practical Skills in electrical Installation and

Maintenance Work” uses a descriptive research which they seek to find what they insight in

knowing the perfect strategies to improve their practical skills of the students in Electrical

Installation and Maintenance strand.

The Researchers makes up a study where in the research title was formulated.

The respondents will carefully selected by the researcher who can justify the needs of the

study. Our respondents here are the students of Electrical Installation and Maintenance

strand at Tagudin National high School. The situation is identified by carefully selected

participant who will be the EIM students who justify the needs of the study. From the

selected population sample will be chosen by the use of simple random sampling. Each

Respondents is chosen to have a chance such as the respondents has the same probability

of being chosen during the sampling process.


While performing the data gathering the researchers must prepare a consent

containing all the terms and regulation of the study. It includes the do’s and don’ts of the

study to prevent miss-understanding on both sides. The consent paper will be given by the

researcher to the participants before the data gathering. The participants must sign on the

paper given by the researcher to get there approval. In data gathering, The researcher will

be able to use self-checklist which they will answer. The researcher will be wait till the

respondents was done in answering the self-checklist. After collecting the self-checklist,

The researcher must say thank you to the respondents so that it will appreciate by the

respondents.

Locale of the Study

The research shall be conducted at Tagudin National High School Campus, Quirino,

Tagudin, Ilocos Sur from October 2018-2019

Population and Sample

This study was conducted at Tagudin National High School Campus at Quirino,

Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. By careful computation, The researcher came up with 100 sample size

using the formula:

V- the standard value (2.58) of 1 percent level of probability with 0.99 reliability

p- the largest possible proportion(0.50)

Research Instrument

This study entitled “ Strategies of the Students to Improve to Improve their Practical

Skills in Electrical Installation And Maintenance Work in Quirino, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur ” uses

the instrument “Self-checklist”. It contain a list of items presented to the respondents who

are instructed to place a mark on the list of their responses. Checklists are usually used

when learners are made to assess their own performance.


Data Gathering Procedure

First step is to identify the topic that will study and to be resolved. Find a perfect

titled according to the topic being studied. After that, Validate the title by checking by our

research teacher. When our teacher approved the title. Researcher must start making their

chapter 1. If the researcher finish their chapter 1 then pass it to your research teacher so

that your research teacher will correct the mistakes. After a month, If the research teacher

give permission to do chapter 2 then do it again. If the chapter 2 are finished then pass in

again to your research teacher. After that, if the research will give back then make a

questionnaire then validate it to your research teacher. If your teacher checked your

questionnaire and your teacher give a consent then your research group are ready to

conduct a research. Finalized all and make a plan and a date that the research will be

conducted. After conducting a research then passed it to your research teacher then get

ready for the final defense.
