These values are all unique to each file downloaded from the DEM Solutions website. This
guide takes you through the steps required to transfer the material properties to your
simulation.
Getting started

2. Transfer the Material Interactions to the EDEM Materials Database:
Return to the Globals tab in the Creator. Under Materials, select Transfer.
Expand the Interactions category and select rock-rock. Click on .
Click OK.

3. Record the JKR Cohesion value
The input deck sent by DEM Solutions contains information regarding the Particle Factories.
The generation settings (mass flow rate, initial velocity etc.) can be customised for your
simulation, however the size distribution must be taken from the input deck in order to keep
the original material characteristics.
Record the value for Std Dev in order to re-create the same size distribution.
The mean has a value of 1. This will create particles of the same mean size as defined in
the Creator > Particle tab.

Any further interactions relevant to your case can now be set.
The particle type used in the input deck is loaded in the viewer.
Notice that when importing the input deck particle type, the Mass, Volume, Moment of Inertia
X, Y and Z are also imported and there is no need to calculate the properties again.

8. Add the JKR Cohesion value
o Note if the JKR model is not shown remove the existing model using and
Insert the Std Dev value recorded in Step 3. Other inputs should be as shown.
Press OK.
The material obtained from the GEMM Database is imported and ready to be
