COURSE TITLE : ECONOMICS OF EDUCATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course deals with the fiscal administration of the school system.
Emphasis is given to to sourcing and allocation of the funds in the school
system. Budgeting is made an important part of the class activity.

COURSE OBJECTIVES :
At the end of the course, the student is expected to:
1. Discuss fully the term economics and its relation to other
system/units in the society;
2. Draw a picture of the current school system, its needs and
problems;
3. Trace the history of financial management and discuss its
importance in the school system;
4. Enumerate and discuss the sources of school funds and school
expenditures;
5. Prepare a school budget;
6. Make a comparative analysis of how budget is prepared in
public and in private schools; and
7. Bring up, discuss and recommend solutions to financial issues/
problems in the school system.

Lectures, open discussion,On Line, oral and written reports, case
studies
