ASSIGNMENT I

Q. CHOOSE ANY MOVIE OF YOUR CHOICE AND RELATE ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
CONCEPTS TO THE INCIDENTS HAPPENING IN THE MOVIE?

INTERSTELLAR (2014)
By: Christopher Nolan
I was given an assignment of watching a movie and briefly write about it with
regards to Team work, Learning and Motivation from the movie.
The movie is considered to be one of the best movie of all time in its genre.
In the movie an ex-NASA employee Cooper who now lives outside a city with his
father and two children is hired to pilot a super-secret space exploration mission by
NASA. The movie tells that entire human race is depends upon the success of this
mission as earth is becoming inhabitable. Cooper joined by a crew which consist
three more scientist on board and two robots, pilots the space ship. Their aim is to
reach a wormhole near by planet of Saturn which then teleports them to the other
end of galaxy.
Learning
The movie has been acclaimed by many scientist around the world for its scientific
accuracy. In the movie it has been showed how time dilation actually works.
Before leaving her daughter, cooper gives a wrist watch to her and says when he
will come back, they both (Cooper and his daughter) will be of same age. As
cooper goes near by a black hole to inspect a planet, every hour on that planet is
equals to roughly 7 years on earth. The movie also describes that only gravity can
travel through all space and dimension just like Time. Which cooper later uses to
send a message to her daughter on earth.
Team work
In the movie all the crew member and robots work together to found a habitable
planet in a galaxy far…far away. One of them was a physicist who calculates the
time they got in hands because there’s no point in searching of a planet if they cant
go back before extinction of humanity. Both the robots help cooper to pilot the
spacecraft. In one of its scenes they dock their spacecraft to a nearly destroyed
space station which is rotating at a speed of more than 1000 rpm. To do that cooper
spins their space ship to the same rotating speed and pairs it inline with the space
station and slowly attaches it to one of its doors.
As the movie progress there was only one hope left, to inspect the last planet. The
space ship doesn’t had enough fuel to reach there and only one person can be
carried with the given amount of oxygen left in the ship. Cooper with a robot
TARS sacrifices himself by undocking him into space in a pod, So that only one
remaining crew member can complete the mission and save mankind.
Motivation
The movie inspires us to never lose a hope. The whole mission was based upon a
hope that there’s someone who wants to help us. Who has opened a wormhole in
our solar system. They didn’t knew who are ‘they’ but they also doesn’t had any
other option left.
