A major function of the cell wall is to give the cell strength

and structure, and to filter molecules that pass in and out

of the cell.
CELL WALL The main function of the cell nucleus is to control
gene expression and mediate the replication of DNA
during the cell cycle.

NUCLEUS Cytoplasm helps to fill out the cell and keeps

organelles in their place. Cytoplasm is responsible for
giving a cell its shape.
CYTOPLASM Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the
cell. They are organelles that act like a digestive system which
takes in nutrients, breaks them down, and creates energy rich
molecules for the cell. MITOCHONDRION

The primary function of the cell membrane is to protect

the cell from its surroundings. CELL MEMBRANE
VACUOLE Plant cells have a large vacuole that helps maintain the
structure of the plant cellby storing water. Vacuoles are
distributed throughout the cell's cytoplasm.
CHLOROPLAST . Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and
eukaryotic algae that conduct photosynthesis. Chloroplasts absorb
sunlight and use it in conjunction with water and carbon dioxide gas to
produce food for the plant.

SMOOTH ERThe main function of the smooth ER is to

make cellular products like hormones and lipids.
ROUGH ER Rough endoplasmic reticulum is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells.
Its main function is to produce proteins.
GOLGI APPARATUS A major function is the modifying, sorting and
packaging of proteins for secretion. It is also involved in the
transport of lipids around the cell, and the creation of lysosomes.
RIBOSOMES Ribosomes are a cell structure that makes protein.

Cell membrane The primary function of the plasma membrane is to protect
the cell from its surroundings. Composed of a phospholipid bilayer with
embedded proteins, theplasma membrane is selectively permeable to ions
and organic molecules and regulates the movement of substances in and
out of cells.

LYSOSOME One of the key organelles involved in digestion and

waste removal is the lysosome.Lysosomes are organelles that
contain digestive enzymes.

RIBOSOMES Ribosomes are a cell structure that makes protein.
Protein is needed for many cell functions such as repairing
damage or directing chemical processes.
NUCLEUS The nucleus is the most important organelle in the cell. It
contains the genetic material, the DNA, which is responsible for controlling
and directing all the activities of the cell. All the RNAs needed for the cell
are synthesised in the nucleus.

VACUOLE Vacuoles are storage bubbles found in cells. They are found in
both animal and plant cells but are much larger in
plant cells.Vacuoles might store food or any variety of nutrients
a cell might need to survive. They can even store waste products so the
rest of the cell is protected from contamination.
