ACTIVIDAD DE APRENDIZAJE 2 - EVIDENCIA 4: RESUMEN “PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION: THE BASICS”

Product Distribution: The basics

Regardless of the type of company you have, while you offer a product or service at some
point you will have to transport goods. To achieve a balance between time and budget,
you must know how to transport; for this, the following must be taken into account:

• The budget must be the most important factor

• The speed of transport
• The type of products that will be transported
• Use insurance if your cargo is expensive
• Use tracking system if your cargo is valuable

To choose then the mode of transport should take into account the size and urgency of
shipping products, for this purpose we find the following modes:

• Road: Cheap, convenient, flexible. However, it is not eco-friendly, it can have delays, it
is necessary to have good road infrastructure, as well as tolls and weight restrictions.

• Rail: Fast, eco-friendly, may or may not have delays. But it can be very expensive and
not very flexible.

• Air: On the one hand it is the fastest for long distances, but on the other it is expensive
and not eco-friendly.

• Sea: Relatively cheap, slow and a little inflexible.

• Courier: Fast, reliable and very safe, but can be expensive and profitable over short
distances.
