CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE IN THE CONTEXT OF JOSE RIZAL MEMORIAL STATE

UNIVERSITY MAIN CAMPUS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Chapter 1
PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

1.1 Background of the study


Schools play an important role in the socialization process of the young people from where

they learn to regulate their own conduct, respect towards others, manage their time responsibly

and thus becoming responsible citizens (Tait, 2003). To educate in an institution of learning is a

progress of producing not just good learners but also good people. School is the most essential

foundation in any transformation of an individual for the reason that it yields the students self-

esteem, respect of human worth and dignity, character building, and to value all the hard work they

had undergone. In molding the attitude and personality of the students in school has a great

significant to the world thus in general agreement it is part of the development towards the student.

The growth of the student affects their behavior, consequently when it comes to school various of

attitude will be merged in classroom. Discipline is essential to an individual, it is the most

important behavior aspect in our life.

School discipline rank as one of the major concerns of the society worldwide, it contains

an essential attention that attracts people. Nonetheless, in general manner student’s misbehavior

in school is a global issue hence a serious problem with great concern for all societies. The problem

of student indiscipline has a great impact of the school, particularly inside the classroom. Apart

from exploring different categories of student problem behavior inside the classroom. It is also
valuable to identify the common ones and at the same manner the bothering one. This study is to

define the meaning of discipline thus obtaining facts and purposes of the research and to formulate

the different behavior of the students in Jose Rizal Memorial State University Main Campus.

Humanities and Social Sciences taking up the academic track establish this research towards the

Senior High School student.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

This study sought to answer the following question:

i. What is the attitude of students inside the classroom?

ii. What are the impacts of having various attitude inside the classroom?

iii. What problem arise of the student’s misbehavior inside the classroom?

iv. What issues will form regarding the student’s indiscipline inside the classroom?

1.3 Significance of the Study

This study will consider beneficial to the following; Students, Teachers.

Students plays a major role in school, to learn new things and especially knows how to

execute a good mannerism to provoked good socialization to others but for the reason that currently

student acts unacceptable problem behavior, these may cause problems or misbehavior inside the

room such as violating school regulations, disrespecting classmates and especially teachers. The

essence of this study is to lessen the inappropriate behavior of the students.

Teachers considered as an instrument to produced quality education that will make an

individuals progression thereupon guiding each student to have good manners and right conduct.
This research will help teachers to analyze the different categories of misbehavior and to know

how to manage and understand students perspective.

1.4 Scope and Limitations

This study focuses about the discipline among Senior High School student in Jose Rizal

Memorial State University Main Campus. The purpose of this investigation is to understand the

common and distractive discipline of the student. The respondents of these study will be Grade

11- Senior High School student whereas presently they have the modified issue concerning the

society.

1.5 Definition of Terms

Classroom discipline - refers to the problem which the researcher’s wanted to study.

Senior High School Students- the respondents in this study.

School – where the study conducted.
