INGLÉS I
INTRODUCCIÓN
El idioma Inglés hoy en día es una herramienta importante para que los estudiantes de
licenciatura puedan desarrollarse con facilidad en diferentes campos de estudio. Sabemos que
hoy por hoy mucha bibliografía de diferentes áreas se encuentra publicada en este idioma;
reading.

BATS
Many people are afraid of bats. They are strange animals. First of all, they are
the only mammals that can fly like birds. Secondly, they fly only at night; in the
daytime they sleep upside down in trees, caves or old buildings. Then there is the
famous legend of the vampire, (the dead person who rises from his grave at night
and flies like a bat to drink the blood of his victims). This legend is very well known,
and the popular history of Count Dracula is based on it.
In fact, bats are usually small and harmless. They are two kinds of bats: fruit–
eating bats and insect–eating bats. Fruit bats are sometimes quite big, with a wing
span of two meters. They cause problems because they go into tropical fruit
plantations at night and eat the fruit.
Insect bats are smaller. They catch and eat insects while they are flying. These bats
are helpful to man, because they eat harmful insects like flies and mosquitoes.
In tropical and subtropical areas, they are vampire bats that bite cows,
horses and other large animals and drink their blood. The old legends were based
on these small creatures, but in fact they do not attack people. However, they are
dangerous because they transmit rabies.

According to a recent survey, the main meal of the day for the most British people
is the evening meal. Seven out of ten families with children sit down at a table for
their weekday evening meal, not in front of television, as many people think. For most
British families, eating is the main social activity of the day.
86
But
breakfast is different. Only one out of four have breakfast with other members of the
family. The survey also reveals that the traditional British cooked breakfast of
sausage, bacon, eggs and fried bread is disappearing. Only twelve per cent of the
population have a regular cooked breakfast. Most people now prefer cereal or muesil,
toast and marmalade and a cup of tea or coffee.

BORN TO DANCE

Nina Ananiashvili is a prima ballerina at the Bolshoi ballet, the greatest ballet
company in the world. She lives with her husband Guya, a diplomat, in a flat in
Moscow. The flat is very small. The bedroom and the sitting room are in one room
and there is only a very small bathroom and kitchen.
95
Every morning Guya and Nina have
breakfast at half past seven. Then Nina prepares her ballet shoes. She uses three new
pairs of ballet shoes for every performance. Nina usually walks to her classes at the
theatre. “I love the city”, she says. “It open my eyes”.
But on performance days, she takes a taxi to class and back. “I like to save my
energy”, she says. She arrives at the theatre about five o ´clock in the evening.
Dance is very tiring and some ballerinas lose three kilogram during a
performance. Nina is always very thirsty after a performance. “I drink and drink:
water, tea, lemonade, anything. Usually, I can’t sleep until three or four o ´clock in
the morning”.
Bolshoi dancers earn quite a lot of money and there are other rewards. Girls
stand in shopping queues to buy food for her. “Men just leave flowers outside my flat
and then run away”, says Nina, and laughs.

4.1 LECTURA
We are Ana and Ivan, we are going to get marry. Last time, we have visited different
houses to live. We didn’t like any until yesterday. We visited one beautiful house and
we loved it. It is a little and comfortable house. It has two floors. In the first floor, it
has a little garden in front and two big windows. It has a little dining room and sitting
room. It has also a kitchen and a bathroom. In the second floor it has two bedrooms
with a closet each one and other bathroom.
This house is not expensive; besides, it has a garage for two cars. We are very
excited and definitely, we are going to buy it.
