Application for a JOB-SEEKER Visa

All Indian nationals who wish to seek employment in the Federal Republic of Germany
require a visa prior to their departure. Applicants may apply for a temporary residence
permit for up to six months.

An application may only be filed at the German Embassy New Delhi under the provision
that the applicant

- has permanent residence in the area of jurisdiction of the Embassy which


includes the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab,
Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Union Territories Chandigarh,
Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Minicoy and Amini.

Personal appearance for interview at the German Embassy is mandatory for all
applicants applying for a Job-Seeker visa.

All applicants have to schedule an appointment for personal interview at the German
Embassy under the category of employment visa. These appointments have to be
scheduled with VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd., managing the German Application
Centers. For further details regarding opening hours of the Visa Application Centers and

Admission to the Visa Section of the German Embassy will only be granted at the time of
the scheduled appointment. Being late will consequently result in scheduling a new
appointment at your expense.

The visa application must be supported by all the necessary documents as only visa
applications with complete supporting documents will be entertained.

In case your visa application and the supporting documents are in accordance with the
requirements for a job seeker visa, your documents will be verified and forwarded to the
competent Immigration Office in Germany for mandatory approval.

It is important to allow ample time for applying for the job seeker visa as the visa process
might take up to 3 months and more.

Simultaneous applications for a Schengen visa and a residence permit cannot be


entertained.
Kindly note, that you will not be allowed to take up employment with a job seeker
visa. Your visa will however be changed to a residence permit for employment in
Germany, once you have found adequate employment.

Upon application for the Job-Seeker Visa at the German Embassy the following
documents have to be submitted in the original version along with an attested translation
into the English language and three identical and arranged sets of copies of each
document (copies have to be provided in DIN-A4 size only):

1. Two Visa Application Forms (please make sure that both forms are duly filled out
and signed indicating especially the address of your future residence in Germany
– (question 15) as well as your complete address including telephone No. and E-
Mail-address in India)

2. Signed Declaration on True and Complete Information

3. Three passport photos

4. The Visa fee to be paid through Demand Draft made out to the “Embassy of the
Federal Republic of Germany” in New Delhi (in case you cannot click the given
link, please refer to our homepage)

5. Valid passport with a validity of at least 12 months along with two copies of all
printed pages. Please note that Indian passports can only be accepted if their bio
data (name, date of birth, place of birth of holder, gender) have not been modified
by an "observation". However, observations regarding the validity of the passport
are permitted.

6. Motivation letter from applicant, explaining the exact purpose, course of action to
find employment and duration of your stay in Germany as well as next career
plans should stay in Germany be unsuccessful

7. Proof of Academic Qualification (from a German university or equal or equivalent


to a German academic degree) and relevant previous work Experience
Certificates for future employment in Germany (for recognition of non-german
degrees kindly refer to www.anabin.de )

8. personal CV containing full education and employment history

9. Proof of accommodation in Germany (if staying with a friend or relative,


“Verpflichtungserklärung” = formal obligation letter from local Immigration
Authority would be appreciated)

10. Proof of sufficient funds for the entire duration of stay by either one of the
following documents:

a) Proof of Blocked account (“Sperrkonto”) in Germany in the name of the


applicant showing a minimum balance of Euro 659 per month of stay in Germany,
i.e. 6 x Euro 659, and the remark that the account holder can dispose of a
monthly amount of Euro 659.
b) “Verpflichtungserklärung” = formal obligation letter from a friend or relative
residing in Germany issued by the local Immigration Authority in Germany (as
mentioned under point 9).

Additionally, bank account statements of the last 12 months, tax assessment


form, income proofs etc should be provided if applicable.

11. Birth Certificate and proof of personal status in India (marriage certificate, birth
certificates of children, ration card, if applicable).

12. 20,000.00 Rupees investigation fee for the verification of all documents of Indian
origin (to be paid by demand draft payable to the “Embassy of the Federal Re-
public of Germany”).

The German Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents!

Please note that in case of incomplete documents the application will not be accepted
and processed by the Embassy. Consequently a new appointment has to be scheduled!
