JULY 17, 2018(TUESDAY)

I. Objectives: At the end of the 50 minute period, pupils should be able to:

1. Define Filtering and Sieving.

2. Differentiate filtering and Sieving.
3. Show interest during the discussion of the lesson.

II. Subject Matter

A. UNIT 1: MATTER
B. Chapter: Separating the components of mixtures
C. Topics:

 Define filtering
 Define Sieving
 Difference between filtering and Sieving.

D. Concepts

 Filtering/Filtration - Is a process that akes use of a filtering medium such as a

filter paper, cheesecloth, sieve, or strainer. It does not allow the dissolved
particles to pass through the hole of the filtering medium.
Example: Using a coffee filter to separate the coffee flavor from the coffee
beans.

 Is a process of using net or screens that allow smaller substances to pass

through the holes of the net or screen.
Example: Using a sieve to separate sand from pebbles
E. Process Skills: Identifying, Describing, Comparing
