, , each has one Jia general or one of five Jia commanders hiding under it they are
JiaZi, JiaXu, JiaShen, JiaWu, Jia Chen and JiaYin. When JiaZi falls into one palace (for example,
No. 4 palace) in a Yang Dun Ju, we call it is a No. 4 Yang Du Ju.
22. Ju
Ju means situation. In Dunjia method, there are cyclic numbers on year, month, day and hour of
Dunjia calendar. For example, Ju number of the date February 2, 1996 is 9, Yang Dun Ju. It means
falls in the No. 9 palace. To know one day is Yang Dun Ju or Yin Dun Ju and the Ju
number people can look for the Dunjia calender. That is very important.
23. Yin Dun and Yang Dun
There are two ways of heavenly Qi's moving, Yin Dun and Yang Dun. Both are concerned with
moving of Earth around the sun.
Yin Dun is a period from summer solstice to next winter solstice. When during the Yin
Dun period, Yin energy is born and increasing its power day by day.
Yang Dun is a period from winter solstice to next summer solstice. During the Yang
Dun period, Yang energy is increasing.
This circulation of energy concerned with time can be comprehend as revolution of earth like

2 5. Heavenly Disk
The aboved knowledge talked about the Earthly Disk and how to arrange the Liu Yi and Three
Wonders in nine palaces and that is not enough. In ancient China, people held all things have to
accept influence from heaven, earth and artificial aspect. Heavenly Disk represents the influence
coming from above. There are altogether nine stars, each stands for a different influence, here we
call them as Zhi Fu . Please read the following chart:

There are altogether 8 Guards used in Dunjia, which summarize the possible influence from
mysterious aspect or celestial powers. We call them Zhi Shi . In Yang Dun Ju the eight
Guards will line up in the following sequance::
The eight Guards will line up in the following sequence in Yin Dun Ju:
The following gives the explanation as to each of the Guard:
1. Zhi Fu (): earth element, central position, the commander of all other Guards. When it falls in
one palace, all evil things will flee without any trace.
2. Teng She (): fire element, south, hypocratic and crafty Guard. Stands for hypocratic characters,
acrimony speech. Responsible for strange, hypocratic and dreadful things.
3. Tai Yin (): metal element, west, the sheltering Guard. Of obscure and invisible attributes.
Where Tai Yin comes upon it is suitable for planning, scheming, plotting, etc. and for taking

PART THREE
3 1. How to Set Up One Ju?
On August 20, 2000 one person dropped a visit. The time is 4:10PM.
A. The First Step:
People should learn such basic methods used for finding the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch and
that is very important for the Dunjia divination. Here people should look for a Chinese lunar calender
to find the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch of August 20, 2000. The result is: XinSi ( )
Then we should get to know the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch of the time 4:10PM. It is Jia
Shen ( ) .
) and JiaShen ( ) time.
.The Second Step:
By looking over the twentyfour solar terms we know it is the term of Beginning of Autumn.
Beginning of Autumn is divided into three durations: upper period, middle period and lower period,
each lasting 5 days. August 20, 2000 is within the middle period and the beginning mark of the
middle period is August 19, 2000, it is JiaYin ( ) day. For all the three periods, we
should use 2,5 and 8 Ju, Yin Dun. Accordingly we know August 20, 2000 is number 5 Yin Dun Ju.
C. The Third Step:
Now we should proceed to arrange San Qi and Liu Yi in the nine palaces. Yin Dun Ju we should
choose the number sequence of 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 when we arrange San Qi and Liu Yi. Because it is
number 5 Yin Dun Ju we should first place JiaZi ( ), the general, in the number 5 palace.
JiaZi is hiding under Wu detachment, therefore we just write down Wu ( ) in the number 5
file:///C:/Users/MihaiC/Desktop/Chinese%20Astrology%20%20Qi%20Men%20Dun%20JiaThe%20Secret%20Retreat%20Doorway.htm 6/10
24.03.2015 Chinese Astrology: Qi Men Dun JiaThe Secret Retreat Doorway
D. The Fourth Step
E. The Fifth Step
Now we should arrange Heavenly stars in their regular sequence: TianPeng ( ), TianRen (
), Tian Chong ( ), TianFu ( ), TianYing ( ), Tian Rui ( ) and
TianQin ( )they are always togetherTianZhu ( ), TianXin ( ) . They
always line up in a clockwise sequence. Because it is JiaShen time which hides under the Liu Yi
F. The Sixth Step
Now we should learn how to arrange eight Gates in nine palaces.
G: The Seventh Step
This step we should arrange eight Guards in nine palaces. Here we should know ZhiShi ( )
always follow the ZhiFu ( ) to find its starting point, then line up the regular sequence
clockwise in Yang Dun Ju and counterclockwise in Yin Dun Ju. ZhiFu ( ) is Injury Gate (
file:///C:/Users/MihaiC/Desktop/Chinese%20Astrology%20%20Qi%20Men%20Dun%20JiaThe%20Secret%20Retreat%20Doorway.htm 7/10
24.03.2015 Chinese Astrology: Qi Men Dun JiaThe Secret Retreat Doorway
) who dwells in number 3 palace, so the starting point of eight Guards sequence will fall into
number 3 palace, it is ZhiFu ( ). Because it is a Yin Dun Ju we should line up eight Guards
Till now we finish setting up one Ju based upon the time, day, month and year when the people
come upon for one time of divination. Yes, there are other variety of Ju settings but here we
generally adopt the most popular timeschool Dunjia. Then people should learn how to analyze such
Ju. Please click Next Page below for more inforamtion.
PART FOUR
4 1. How to Analyze One Ju.
People should know the emblematic meaning of each sign used in one Ju and their interaction
results. In one palace there stay Earthly disk, Heavenly disk, Human disk and eight Guards which
summarize the possible influence that can have effects upon one situation. In ancient China, people
hold the viewpoints that human beings are one part of the nature without any division. It is a
complete entity. They also hold that the whole nature has its own pulse that beat continuously as
like a human being. Ancient Chinese doctore can know the problem hidden in the body by feeling the
pulse. Yet, how to feel the pulse of the nuture? And is it possible to do that?
Dunjia methods provide one tool for feeling the pulse of the nuture and from it some people can
know something hidden in it. In fact, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches provide the very
basic foundation for this to become true. The pulse of nature can show up with assorted
presentation forms when tainted with different color and that is why Dunjia can offer so much useful
tips when people want to know so many different things.
So, for the proper analysis of one Ju we have to know the meaning of each element staying in the
nine palaces.

Hello, it`s very interesting! Would you explain just the second step:
"For all the three periods, we should use 2,5 and 8 Ju, Yin Dun. Accordingly
we know August 20, 2000 is number 5 Yin Dun Ju."
Why should we use 2,5 and 8 Ju, Yin Dun?
How exactly we know that August 20 is number 5 Yin Dun Ju?
Thank you in advance!
