Five (5) Marks for an……
“Authentic Christian”
If you declare with your
mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and
believe in your heart that
God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10 :9

If anyone confesses that

Jesus is the Son of God,
God abides in him, and
he in God.
1John 4:15
Authentic Christian…..
First,
must begin with a verbal acknowledgment of
JESUS CHRIST as the Lord of your life.
examine this…
..two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met Him.
They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29
“What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted.
Matt.8:28-29
Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well: the devils also believe,
and tremble. James 2:19

True Christian should be

able to say “Christ is my
Lord & Savior”.
Authentic Christian…..
Second,
you will be unhappy or miserable when you are
sinning.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in
him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1John 3:9

Does this mean that you will never sin if you are a Christian? Nope!!
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
1John 1:8
Difference…..
recognizing that we fail in some way, shape, or form in the future..
going on a willful, continual track of sin..

A child of God will have a sense of

discomfort when sinning, because he knows
in his heart of hearts that what he is doing
wrong.
Authentic Christian…..
Third,
Enjoys fellowship with other believers..
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 1John 5:1
True Christians will want to be around with other Christians..
They do not isolate themselves

The Bible Tell us how important to get together..

• encourage one another
• correcting one another

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves

together, as the manner of some is; but
exhorting one another: Heb 10:24
Authentic Christian…..
Fourth,
Obeys the commands of Jesus Christ..
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are
not burdensome, 1John 5:3
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
true believers…
• obey the commands of Jesus Christ
• believes that the Bible is filled with
so-called rules to teach, instruct,
correct, encourage, warn, protect
us from harm and not to make our
lives miserable..
Those who blatantly and continually
breaks the commandments of God simply
does not know Him.
Authentic Christian…..
Fifth,
Loves and Obeys the Word of God
But those who obey God's word truly show how completely they love him.
That is how we know we are living in him. 1John 2:5
You cannot effectively live the Christian life without…
• a love for His Word…
• and obedience to His Word.
Disciples of Jesus Christ will be a students
of a Scripture and will walk according to
its teaching.
A vital thing to a true Christian living
because it is the very textbook of life.
Many failed to read the Scriptures.
Success and failure in life depend on how
much of the Bible they get into their hearts
and mind on the regular basis.
We Must read the Scriptures!!
