ABSTRACT

Fertilizer nowadays are widely use in Agriculture to help farmers maintain soil

fertility and to increase crop yield. There are two kinds of fertilizer inorganic

and organic fertilizer. Inorganic or synthetic fertilizer are those fertilizer that

consists of chemicals example of this are Urea, Complete and etc. organic

fertilizer are those from decayed plants or rice hull, manure of the animals,

fermented juices and etc.

But many of them wondering if what fertilizer will be use its either

inorganic or organic fertilizer. This study aims to determine of what fertilizer is

best to apply in plant. This study used experimental research design,

observing, analysing and gathering data. The result of the study showed that

the sampled plant Okra, have a good fertility, fast growth, good quality when

inorganic fertilizer applied. It showed that the best fertilizer that can help the

farmers is the easy way farming which is by applying inorganic fertilizer. To

maintain its productive way of farming.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

Ladies Fingers, (Abelmoschus Esculentus) also known as okra is one

of the high nutrient content vegetable in our country. It can grow easily, and it
has a long life span. It can live for months also it is a productive plant. Okra is
better compared to the other plants , you can plant it in your backyard and
harvest it in a short period of time. In planting okra, a farmer must use fertilizer
to make it healthier and productive. Plant fertilizer are widely used in
agriculture to maintain soil fertility and to increase crop yields. Fertilizer is any
organic or inorganic material of natural or synthetic origin that is applied
through soil or leaves to the plants to supply nutrients essential to the growth
and productivity. The organic fertilizer came from decayed plants or ricehull,
manure of the animals including pig, chicken , carabao, goat and others .
FPJ,FFJ,EMAS,FAA or seaweeds juice and etc. The synthetic/ inorganic
fertilizer are with chemicals, just like complete , Urea and etc.
This research conducted to test which fertilizer is good to the okra plant
(Abelmuschus Esculentus). As what we observed in this community, farmers
were confused of what is better to use organic or synthetic fertilizer. It
includes how fast and healthy the plant to grow in general. This study wants to
know what fertilizer is good to apply in plants.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine the effectivity of Inorganic or Organic Fertilizer
for Ladies Finger plant. Specifically, it sought to answer the following
questions:
1. What is the level of effectivity of the Okra plant using inorganic vs
organic fertilizer ?
2. Is there a significant difference on the inorganic and organic fertilizer
experimentation ?
3. Based on the findings, what will be the possible action plan to be
formulated ?

HYPOTHESIS
Ha- There is a significant differences on the growth rate between synthetic
and organic fertilizer when applied to plants.
Ho- Synthetic fertilizer shows no significant difference in growth rate compare
to organic fertilizer when applied to plants.

3
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The researcher findings will contribute ideas about what is the best
fertilizer to apply in Okra Plant, inorganic or organic fertilizer. It can help and
beneficial to the following:
To the Agri-crop production NC II Students, this will be give idea for
them to practice at their planting activity of choosing the best fertilizer.
To the Farmers, this will help them decide of what fertilizer is best for
their farm. That will lead them to a productive one.
To the Department of Agriculture, this study will help them to
implement such program about fertilizer to apply to help the farmers.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Observation is made for this study to determine which fertilizer is good

to apply in Okra plant whether inorganic or organic fertilizer. It focuses on how
the fertilizer can affect the growth of Okra.
Okra plant was used because it grows fast and meet the expectation
experiment. The experiment will be conducted in the school of the
researchers, specifically in the Agri-crop Production NC II building wherein
there is a complete tools to be used.
The researcher aim to end this research on month of March for as this
study made as a part of the compliance of our requirement in Inquiries,
Investigation, and Immersion subject.
The researcher were able to accomplish these research with their
ability and skills applied from their track Agri-crop Production NC II.

4
DEFINITION OF TERMS

ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS- a scientific name of Okra or Ladies Finger.

Inorganic- it is a kind of fertilizer compost of chemicals. Example of this are
Urea,
Complete, and etc.
Organic- it is a kind of fertilizer that compost of natural ingredients such as
manure of the animals rice hull and etc.
Fertilizer – is only or organic material, that is applied through soil or leaves to
the plants to supply nutrients, to the growth and productivity of plants.

5
CHAPTER II REVIEW OF LITERARTURE
Fertilizer facilitated higher yields on less crop area than without the use

of fertilizers ; therefore, they are considered important elements in worldwide

food production . As the population continues to grow, more and more

agricultural output will be required, and fertilizers will play a vital role (Clark

and Kelly, 2004 ). Food grain production in India more than doubled itself

during the post-Green Revolution. However, over use of chemical ferilizers,

pesticides, especially in vegetables and fruit plants, resulted in residues

above safety levels (Agnihoti, 1999) and showed ill-effects; even drinking

water is not spared (Anonymous,2004). These ill effects of modern agriculture

forced people, especially in countries with high-income economies to demand

food growth without chemical fertilizers and pesticides . Growing awareness

of health and environmental issues in agriculture has demanded production of

organic food, which is emerging as an attractive source pf rural income

generation, and this paved the way for organic farming (Prasad,2005). The

major reason for the widespread accunence of defiency of micronutrients is

the low availability of micronutrients to plant roots rather than their low

concentration in soils. The low solubility of most micronutrient contains like

cupper (Cu), iro (Fe), manganese(Mn), and zine (Zn) in soils means that after

the addition to alkaline soil as the soluble form, the metal is rapidly

precipitated. Even in rainfed areas, micronutrient deficiencies are more

prevalent (Srinivasarao and Vital,2007). Paulraj et al.(1982) reported the

highest fruit yield of tomato as compared to the control on the application of

150:100:50 NPK kg/ha along with recommended dose of FYM @ 25 t/ha.

7
Mehta and Sani (1987) conducted a study on effect of NPK fertilizers

on the plant growth, flowering and yield of tomato. The plants received basal

FYM (20 t / ha) and N @ 75 – 125, P @ 60 – 90 or K @ 30 – 60 kg / ha. had

significant on increased the fruit yield. Bagal et al.(1989) studied the influence

of different level of NPK fertilizers on the yield and quality of tomato and

noticed the highest yield, acidity, TSS and lycopene content in tomato with the

application of 200:100:100 kg NPK/ha along with recommended dose of FYM

(20 t/ha). Lacatus et al.(1994) studied the influence of organic and mineral

fertilizers on tomato quality for processing. They revealed best quality of

tomatoes for processing with N, P and K application rates of 300, 150 and 75

kg/ha, respectively, along with 20 t FYM/ha. Kumaran et al.(1998) reported on

the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth, yield and quality of

tomato noticed the plant height (75.75 cm), mean fruit weight (41.05 g) and

number of fruits per plant (18.30) were best with combination of FYM at 15

t/ha,150:100:50kg NPK/ha along with Azospirillum and phosphobacteria.

Renuka and Ravishankar(2001) conducted a study on the effect of organic

manures on growth and yield of tomato, the application of biogas slurry +FYM,

vermicompost + FYM and vermicompost alone have recorded maximum fruit

size, more number of fruits per plant, while inorganic fertilizers (NPK)

recorded the minimum fruit size. It is inferred that tomato crop would respond

well to the application of organic manures either in combination with FYM or

alone. Further, organic manures application helps to maintain good soil

health.

CHAPTER III METHODS
DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE

This chapter will state the result or the researchers observation about
the inorganic vs organic fertilizer for Ladies Finger.
The treatment we applied which is T1 – Okra without fertilizer only water
applied, T2 -Okra with organic fertilizer applied. T3- Okra with inorganic
fertilizer applied.
Based on the experimental study, the researchers observed that after
several days after sowing the seeds of okra, the T, was the first one
germinate. Then after sowing the seeds of Okra, T, was the first one
germinate. Then the T3, last is T2. While Okra plant is growing, we observed
also that the fertility of T3 is good.
The researchers analyse that the T3- which is inorganic fertilizer applied
is an easy way in farming.

CHAPTER V
SUMMARY OF THE FINDING

The research finding shows that the best fertilizer to use in this study

Inorganic vs Organic fertilizer for Ladies is Inorganic fertilizer. The study

resulted that the treatment 3 applied which is inorganic fertilizer have a good

quality and a good fertility. It will be the best fertilizer in farming, it will help the

farmers perform a productive and easy way farming.

CONCLUSION

Based on results analysis of data, the researchers therefore conclude

that fertilizers had a great help to Okra Plant’s growth rate. Especially using

inorganic fertilizer in growing Okra plants, it shows that inorganic had a

greater effect than organic fertilizer. It will make the plants have a good

quality and good fertility. It will help the farmers have a productive farm.

RECOMMMENDATION

Observations of growth rate which include the, height, quality and fertility

of the Okra Plant, when two fertilizer inorganic and organic applied. We

recommend that the two fertilizer must be tested with other plants so that they

can test also if these two fertilizer is effective. Since this study results, shows

that the inorganic fertilizer is much better to apply in Okra plant, in terms of

good quality and fertility of the plants. We recommend also to all farmers that

they must apply inorganic fertilizer in planting so that they have a productive

farm and easy for them to use.
