Semi Detailed Lesson Plan in Biology

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of 60 minutes period with 80% proficiency level, the students
are expected to:

a. Identify the features of the tissues (root, stem, and leaf);

b. Label correctly the location and explain the functions of the tissues
(root, stem, and leaf) and
c. Manifest appreciation of the topic discussed by performing an
activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Organ Systems (Plant Structure and Functions)

b. References: Department of Education. Science and Technology
Biology Textbook. NPBSE. Pages 87-96
c. Materials: visual aids, task cards, flaglets

III. PROCEDURE

a. REVIEW
What are the 2 components of an ecosystem?

b. MOTIVATION
I have here an example of different parts of the plants. All you have
to do is to observe all of this. What can you say about the
specimen presented? Who among you here have an idea on what
is our lesson for today? Now I’m going to show you a specimen and
you’re going to label then state its functions. ROOTS, STEM, LEAF

c. ACTIVITIES
Let’s divide the class into 3 groups. Count 1-3. Stay with your group,
select your leader, secretary and representative to report your
output. Leaders get your questions to be answered here and be
sure that all your members will participate in the group discussion.
You have 15 minutes to do the activity.

Group 1 – Roots

Explain/enumerate the features of specialized roots its nature of

specialization and its specialized functions. Classify according to
their types of root system the specimen that you have and state its
specialized functions and nature of specialization.

Group 2- Stem

Enumerate the features of specialized stem and its modified

structure and specialized functions. What is the main difference
between the cells of the xylem and the cells of the phloem. Identify
the specialized functions of the modified stems that you have.

Group 3- Leaf

Enumerate the features of specialized leaves its leaf modification

and modified functions. Give the 2 types of a common leaf. Classify
the specimen that you have based on its leaf shapes, bases and
apices.

REPORTING DISSCUSSION

Ok, class the reporter who is assigned for each group will report and
discuss to us their output.

Rubrics

Presentation 25%

Delivery 25%

Content 50%

Total 100 %

d. ABSTRACTION
Who can sum up the functions of the plants?

e. APPLICATION

This time class we’ll be having another activity I want everybody to

participate on this activity. Stay on your group. I will give flaglets
with different color. Group 1- red, group 2-pink, and group 3 yellow.
I will give questions to answer, if your group knows the answer
please raise your flaglets. But if you answer the questions incorrectly
other group will have the chance to answer. First group that will get
3 points will have 20 points and other group will have 15 points.

IV. ASSESSMENT

Why is it important for us to know the different structure and

functions of plants?

V. ASSIGNMENT
Make a reflection about the importance of plants in
ecosystem
