Background of the Study

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in an

interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines
as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive
learning paradigm based on real-world applications.

According to Obama (2009).., “Educate to Innovate" campaign to motivate

and inspire students to excel in STEM subjects. This campaign also addresses
the inadequate number of teachers skilled to educate in these subjects.
Designed to prepare students who are inclined to take college degrees related
to business and management programs, ABM will be about the basic principles
of the various functional areas of business such as marketing, finance and
accounting, information and technology, and entrepreneurship. The ABM
strand in its most fundamental sense refers to the accountancy, business, and
management academic programs that concentrate on the foundational
concepts in corporate operations, financial management, business
management, as well as each and every factor that revolves around those
central fields. The ABM strand can take you on a direct path to careers in
accounting and management: sales management, human resources,
marketing director, bookkeeper, project officer, accounting clerk, internal
auditor, and many more.

The ABM strand curriculum opens the avenues for you to gain a more nuanced
appreciation of the intrinsic elements that make up the world of accounting
and business management courses in the Philippines without having to dive
deeper into the specialized complexities of mathematical fields such as
algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and others.

The subjects involved in the ABM strand are designed and crafted for you
develop the appropriate tools that you are going to utilize all throughout your
journey in the corporate world. You should expect to be immersed in studying
management and financial accounting along with the business, legal, and
organizational contexts that you would be working with as you go along your
road in a professional enterprise.

By taking the ABM strand you will be trained to analyze assets, understand
everything involved with financial positions, interpret various profitability, and
prepare audit accounts Enderun College (2006).

Statement of the Problem

The Student aim to Identify and Examine the Factors That Influence the
Learning Ability of the Selected ABM and STEM Students in Math Subjects of
San Lorenzo Ruiz Senior High School.

Specifically, it aimed to answer the following questions:

1. What are the factors that Influence the Learning Ability of the Selected ABM
and STEM students in math subjects?

2. What is the level of the factors that influence the learning ability of the
selected ABM and STEM students?

3. Is there a significant relationship between the factors that influence the

learning ability of the selected ABM and Stem students?

Figure 1 shows the conceptual framework of this study. It utilized IVDV

or the Independent Variable and Dependent Variable of the study.

The Independent Variable is The Factors That Influence of the Selected

Grade 11 ABM and STEM Students.

The Dependent Variable is The Learning Ability of the Selected ABM

and STEM Students in Math Subjects, since the study wants to verify The
Factors That Influence the Learning Ability in Math Subjects of the Selected
ABM and STEM Students.

Definition of Terms

For the better comprehension of this study, the following definitions of

terms are provided.

Business. The practice of production one's living by engaging in

commerce, it is also a study of trade that can be consumed by the money.
 Factors. It is a condition, statistic, or impact that contributes to a
result or product.

Influence. The volume to have a conclusion on the personality,

progress, or deeds of someone or something, or the effect itself.

Learning Ability. Is the achievement of understanding or expertise

through experience, study, or by being educated and it is control of the
resources or expertise to do something.

Math. Is the abstract science of number, amount, and total, it is

perhaps too studied in its own right (pure mathematics), or as it is applied to
other disciplines such as physics, business and engineering (applied
mathematics).
