GEM2 Card

The GEM2 board implements the O/E/O conversion of GbE signals

complying with IEEE802.3Z from SDH equipment.
And then it combines these signals into the optical signal with special
ITU-T G.694.2 wavelenght. It also implements the opposite procedure.
The highest rate of optical signals complying with ITU-T G.694.2 is 2.5
Gbit/s (STM-16).

OMD Card
The OMD board is used to multiplex multiple wavelengths and
demultiplex combined wavelength to individual wavelength.
Three types of OMD boards are provided for the ZXMP M600:

Card Wavelength Quantity Wavelength (nm)

OMD5-1 5 1310/1471/1491/1511/1531

OMD4-5 4 1551/1571/1591/1611

OMDS 10
/1531/1551/1571/1591/1611
OMD5-1/OMD4-5 Card

The OMD5-1/OMD4-5 board adopts the single fiber

unidirectional transmission mode.
The OMD5-1 board can implement the
multiplexing/demultiplexing of 4+1 wavelengths.
Moreover, through the combination of OMD5-1 and
OMD4-5, the multiplexing/demultiplexing of 8+1
wavelengths can be implemented. “+1” refers to the
1310 nm supervisory channel.
OMDS Card

The line fiber connected to the OMDS board adopts

the single-fiber bidirectional transmission mode
while the channel fiber adopts the single-fiber
unidirectional transmission mode.
The wavelengths 1310 nm and 1451 nm are used
to carry supervision signals in two directions
respectively

The OAD board implements the adding/dropping of
special wavelengths in the CWDM system.
Three wavelengths can be added or dropped at most.
When more than three wavelengths are required to be
added or dropped, the OAD board can be cascaded
with the OMD board to implement the adding/dropping
of them.
Three kinds of OAD boards are provided, OAD1, OAD2
and OAD3, to add/drop one, two, and three

Optical Protection Unit
The OP board is used to implement the optical multiplex
section line 1+1 protection or optical path 1+1 protection.
The functions of OP board are as follows.
Check the input optical power. The protection switch will be
triggered when the input power is lower than -25 dBm (Low Input
Power Alarm).
Support the external switching commands from the EMS.
Support reversion switching and non-reversion switching.
The switching time is less than 50 ms.
Optical Protection Unit
Structure Diagram
Optical Protection Unit
In the concurrent transmitting direction (IN → OUT1, IN →
OUT2)
The optical signal received at the IN port is divided into two optical
signals of the same wavelength (OUT1, OUT2) through the coupler.
These two output signals protect each other.
In the preferential receiving direction (IN1 → OUT, IN2 → OUT)
The optical signals received at the IN1 and IN2 ports pass through
the corresponding coupler. And then some light of the optical
signals is sent into the PIN Check module, which will check the
optical power for the input signals.
The other light is sent to the 1×2 switch module, which will select
the optical signal according to the optical power measured in the
PIN Check module and output it through the OUT port.
