BANKING
 SBI has signed MoU with National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to boost
the availability of capital for infrastructure projects.
 Bank of Baroda has entered into a transaction with Dewan Housing Finance Corp. Ltd
(DHFL) to buy loans worth of Rs. 3000 crore.
 India’s largest lender ‘State Bank of India’ is celebrating 64th Bank Day on 1st July.
 ICICI Bank has cut its lending rates by 10 basis points to make majority of loans like
residential mortgages and auto loans available at 8.65 percent.
 RBI has imposed penalty on different banks for violating KYC norms and anti-money
laundering standards.

 SBI has decided to not levy transaction charges on fund transfer using IMPS for internet
banking and mobile banking customers from 1st August 2019.
 According to Indian banks, willful defaults are Rs.1.50 trillion worth of loans in FY19 as
SBI holds the highest number of willful defaults (Rs. 460 bn) and PNB ranked 2nd (Rs.250

 RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs. 15 lakh on Mobikwik and Rs. 10.85 lakh on Hip Bar for
non compliance of regulatory guidelines.
 RBI has relaxed the end-use norms related to external commercial borrowings (ECBs) by
allowing corporates and NBFCs to raise ECBs for working capital and general corporate
purposes.

ECONOMY
 Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced that Government has set a target
to raise health services expenditure to 2.5% of country’s GDP (Gross domestic product)
by 2025.
 The government fixed the price of the new series of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) at Rs
3,443 per gram opening July 8, 2019. In consultation with the Reserve Bank of India
(RBI), the Centre decided to allow a discount of Rs 50 per gram from the issue price (Rs

3,393 per gram) to those investors who apply online and if the payment is made through
digital mode.
 The government has identified ONGC, Indian Oil, GAIL and NTPC as possible candidates

STATE
 Tamil yeoman (Cirrochroa thais) butterfly has been declared the state butterfly of Tamil

 The State Government of Uttarakhand implemented a one-time settlement’ scheme for

Corporation of India (SECI), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of New and

Rajasthan.
 The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has declared the Nagaland as “disturbed area” for
six more months, with effect from June 30 to December 31, 2019.
 Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir (J&k) has launched an anti Drug Campaign called
“Operation Khumaar” in all 312 Panchayats of the district to drugs-free panchayats.
 The world famous Jagannath Rath Yatra 2019 began at Puri in Odisha.
 The Bonalu festival started at the Jagadamba temple in Golconda Fort, Telangana.
 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath launched 24X7 toll-free ‘CM Helpline
