Rolling forward> Upcoming Events in May: Mother’s Day Celebration, Vesak Day

Birthdays are more special and fun when you get to celebrate it with your friends! Here are some
snapshots from our March and April birthday celebrations. Our thoughtful celebrants and their families
shared their joyful event through cake cutting and sharing goodies among their friends and teachers. The
children had fun celebrating their special day in class and was more special because of their friends. Once
again, Happy Birthday from your Greenland Childcare Family!

The K1 children, together with their teachers made a trip to The City Interactive Learning Playground on
26th April 2019. The children had so much fun as they were engrossed in role play and pretend play
experiences in the different learning stations such as Supermarket, Café, Police and Fire Station, School,
Clinic and Super Hero. The children were able to engage themselves in a meaningful play and act out
roles of different community helpers that helps the neighborhood. They also get to dress up like their
favorite super heroes and pretended to save the city from danger.

During our Project Work week, the K1 children had learnt and explored more about our Five Senses and
how it helps us to communicate, learn about our environment and do things. For this project work the
children focused on the sense of touch and engaged in different tasks that involves exploring their tactile
senses. The children were given an opportunity to feel and categorize each object in different sensations
such as smooth, rough, soft and hard and complete a ‘Texture Checklist’. They also made their ‘My Five
Senses Book’ and write & draw the things that they can see, smell, hear, taste and feel. For the main
project, the children were divided into groups and tasked to design a ‘Mystery Box’ where they put
variety of objects for their friends to feel and guess.

瞧,我们制作的“精美沙滩拖鞋”,漂亮吧!K1 小朋友运用环保纸壳按照自己的脚大小
形状画出来,接着照着画好的脚形剪下来制作拖鞋,然后老师引导幼儿在剪下纸壳鞋底上
进行自由创作绘画。其次老师将幼儿绘画好的鞋底进行打洞然后将毛根穿进去制作夹脚拖
鞋,接着引导幼儿在自己每只拖鞋的两根毛根上以排序方式串上精美的珠子用来装饰拖鞋
外部的造型。
总结:幼儿参与此活动积极性非常的高,同时对此活动非常的感兴趣。幼儿能够绘画出自己想要
表达的事物情景,如:彩虹、蓝天白云、心形图案等。在串珠排序方面多数幼儿能够理解老师讲解
的排序规律及能够独立完成正确串珠排序。个别理解能力偏弱的幼儿在老师的几次讲解后能够慢慢
明白及理解了排序的规律,同时能够在老师的指导下独立完成了正确串珠排序。幼儿们看到自己所
完成后的“精美串珠沙滩拖鞋”作品,内心都感到非常的开心和兴奋,每位幼儿都迫不及待地将自
己动手制作好的拖鞋穿在自己的脚上给予同伴们观看和欣赏。
