technique paintings students will find a subject to paint. They are able to choose from the
following; landscape, nature, fruits, vegetables or other natural images.

2) Hundertwasser Patterns in Acrylic

Students will learn how to use acrylic paints on canvas. Acrylic paints can be used in many
different ways. Students will experiment with techniques and application. Students will research
the artist Hundertwasser and create a painting based on his ideas of using patterns and
repetition.
3) Heavily Textured Landscape Painting in Oil

4) The Emotional Impact of Color in Acrylic

This project is open to subject matter with a color focus. Make the painting bold, subdued, chaotic,
joyful, or other. Use specific color schemes to visually impact the viewer. This painting is all about the
importance of color to create emotion.

5) Animal Portrait (oil)

A true animal portrait captures the essence of the animals’ personality and spirit. Students will
learn how to create fur, texture, depth, and realism using oil paint. Get out your camera
because this painting is all about capturing this in your animal. Are they sassy, serious, or
mischievous…you get the idea.
6) Painting Light/Reflection on a Black Ground with Oil
Students will learn how to paint reflections on a black ground. This way of painting focuses on
the shapes highlights first. Then the rest of the subject is painted in. It is a great way to enhance
oil painting skills.

7) Painting from Observation with Interesting Point of View in acrylic or oil

Paint something from life. This could be a single object that you enlarge, your room, the art
room, your closet, or other subject that you come up with. Make sure that you show an
interesting point of view. Be creative with this.

8) Student Choice
It is your time to shine. Dazzle me with an idea of your own. Think about the style of painting
you have started developing and what subject matter interests you. You may choose any
medium we have used in class. Make sure you are original and have a well thought out plan for
your painting. Take plenty of photos for reference.
